whenzuc Posted December 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Are the products in the cabin decent enough, or does one need to pack shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, etc? Trying to pack as light as possible.
djhsolara Posted December 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2008 I have enjoyed the Elemis products and have never even thought of bringing my own. To me that is just one of those things that I don't need to pack when I travel...and these products have always been more than nice.
jhannah Posted December 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2008 No need to bring your own. The Elemis soap, shampoo, body wash and lotion are quite nice.
Sprocket Posted December 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 19, 2008 The products are very nice, however if you have sensitive skin you may want to bring your own shower gel. I had an allergic reaction to it, but luckily had packed antihistamines just in case. YMMV
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 19, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 19, 2008 DH is very alergic to the Elemis products so we have to bring our own. These are the products that should be in all cabins: The products included: 1.7 ounce bottle - Pure Shine Shampoo - infused with the aroma of Lime, Basil, and Grapefruit. 1.7 ounce bottle - Pro-Vitamin Conditioner - a citrus experience that replenishes with conditioning Vitamin B5 Panthenol. 1.7 ounce bottle - Sharp Shower and Bath Gel - an aroma-therapeutic blend of Mint, Charmonile, Wild Marjoram, Nettle and Thyme in a Mineral rich Sea Salt base. 1.7 ounce bottle of Vitamin Rich-Body Lotion - infused with Vitamin-rich Wheat Germ, Carrot and Sweet Almond Oil. For the Face: Citrus Soap Slice - pure Glycerin soap is lightly infused with the aroma of Grapefruit, Basil, Clove and Lime. For the Body: pure zest cleansing soap - infused with nature's own Lime, Clove Leaf, Lavender and Rosemary Extracts in Palm Oil.
Djptcp Posted December 19, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 19, 2008 DH and I were on the Noordam 11/27-12/7 and loved the Elemis products. We had brought our own stuff, but never used them. The wonderful lemon soap made me think of lemon drops the whole time and I loved it. The shampoo is great as is the body lotion, and the shower bar soap is nice, too. Didn't use the conditioner or body wash.
InTheWASide Posted December 19, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 19, 2008 The products are fantastic and before I disembark I usually ask for a couple extra shampoos and body gels. If I'm having a crap day or it's too long between cruises I'll use them and I feel back at home :)

Used some shampoo yesterday, as a matter of fact. We try to always have a few bottles in reserve.

esther e Posted December 19, 2008 #15 Share Posted December 19, 2008 I love the products so much that I'll order them from timetospa.com between cruises. Although, I do go to the spa and load up on shampoo while on the ship.
HALFans Posted December 19, 2008 #16 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Are the products in the cabin decent enough, or does one need to pack shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, etc? Trying to pack as light as possible. I like the new products line except for one thing... the packaging! I work with my hands a lot and have a good, strong grip. Or so I thought... Kind of awkward, standing in the shower with water running in my eyes, trying to get a grip on the smooth shampoo bottle cap. Slip, slip, slip and finally just ended up sticking it in my mouth to get a strong enough grip on the cap to loosen it. :o I honestly don't know who approved the new packaging at HAL, but they sure didn't consider their arthritic or weak gripped pax when removing the knurls from the little bottle lids. Mom in the North Posted December 19, 2008 #17 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Do they replace the shampoo, etc. everyday, or do they wait until you're out, or ???

RuthC Posted December 19, 2008 #19 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Do they replace the shampoo, etc. everyday, or do they wait until you're out, or ??? Generally, they replace them when you're out. It's best to work out the signal with your cabin steward. Sometimes they refill the stand, and you take as needed. Other stewards wait until you leave the empty bottle on the counter before they replace it. And don't forget that the little stand, and everything in it, disappears on the last turn-down before disembarkation. If you're going to need to open a new something before bed, or in the morning, take it before you leave for that last evening. ;)
Smart 4-2 Posted December 20, 2008 #20 Share Posted December 20, 2008 Do they replace the shampoo, etc. everyday, or do they wait until you're out, or ??? On our last cruise our friendly room steward would replace the little bottles every day when I tucked the old ones away with my cosmetics.
jhannah Posted December 20, 2008 #21 Share Posted December 20, 2008 I honestly don't know who approved the new packaging at HAL, but they sure didn't consider their arthritic or weak gripped pax when removing the knurls from the little bottle lids. Remember the Royal Dutch products? They were nice, large bottles (4" - 4 1/2") and had the knurled caps. I like Elemis ... but miss the Royal Dutch. On our last cruise our friendly room steward would replace the little bottles every day when I tucked the old ones away with my cosmetics. That was my experience up until the Eurodam prelude and inaugural cruises. Getting more bottles was like pulling teeth! We ran out more than once and had to find our steward to ask for more. It was like they were limiting cabins to two bottles per week! With what we were spending for those sailings, it was almost insulting that they were so chincy with shampoo and body wash! Wild Thing ~T Posted December 21, 2008 #22 Share Posted December 21, 2008 I personally love all Elemis products! They have a way of jumping into my bag when sailing with HAL!! ;) Jim, how are you? I think of you often, how is the recovery going? Teri:)
fateknows Posted December 21, 2008 #23 Share Posted December 21, 2008 Are the products in the cabin decent enough, or does one need to pack shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, etc? Trying to pack as light as possible. I loved the products that were given to us in our room. The only thing that I would pack would be a good conditioner. The whipping wind on the ship, the treated pool water and the ocean salt water is going to be hard on your hair. I packed the Paul Mitchel Conditioner. You emulisfy this in your heated palms until it turns white and hold your palms against your hair for about 10 seconds until the emulsion is absorbed. After a day of heavy abuse, there is no rinsing. You just leave it there. The nice thing about this conditioner is that it can also be used as a skin lotion. So, if you are trying to cut down on packing, it is wonderful. I'm sure there are other nice conditioners out there.
