Any Feedback on King David Stone Island ??

Looking for feedback from those of you who have used King David Tours to Stone Island. Good ? Bad?

I know Stone Island is rather easy to do on your own but a few issues will keep us from trying so we are interested in feedback. Thanks.

We are booked thru them for our Jan cruise - so far they have responded to my many email questions quickly, seem professional. We are hoping they are good - we didn't want to deal with walking to water taxis and being unsure of where we were going with 2 kids, maybe next time. I would appreciate anyone who has used them already....otherwise I will post when we return.

Yes, I used them for horseback riding on Stone Island. It was a good experience. No problems. I booked it through Shoretrips.

We just got back from our Mexican Riveria cruise. Used King David (booked directly online) for the stone island tour. It was wonderful! Hugo met us right away where he said he would, transported us to the small catamaran type boat for a tour of the harbor (we were the only cruise passengers, the rest met us at the boat from hotel tours). We got to see caves, sea lion colony, etc., very cool. Free drinks on boat. Then took us to stone island, transported us by a cart pulled by tractor to the beach. Not much to see along way - Mexican village, children selling peanuts, etc., but then arrived at beach. Choice of 2 activities, but we chose none and spent the entire day at the beach with our 2 small children. Banana boat rides looked like a lot of fun, but we had a great time on the beach. Found a ton of shells, held live starfish and sand dollars, saw crabs, daughter had hair braided, etc. Vendors were a bit pushy, but No Gracias worked fine. Went up to Molakays for lunch, provided in the tour - fish, chicken, quesadilla, beans and rice, open bar all day on the beach. Very good food and service. Bought a bag of coconut milk candy made there for $1 which was very good. At the end of the day he took us back by boat to meet a bus, which dropped us off right at the terminal. Very happy with food, service and price (even without participating in the two activities choices - snorkeling, horseback riding, horsecart tour, banana boats, boogie boards - really great value if you did the activities!) Very nice tour!

We used him about three years ago.Glad to read Hugo is still around.We still laugh about him, he was a funny guy but very accomadating too.

Hugo was very nice, helpful, polite - nothing but professional and kind. We had our 2 small children with us, he treated us all great. What a great trip!

How long were you actually on Stone Island, please? We usually only stay about 2-3 hours on a beach.

They apparently have gone up in price significantly. The cost is now $45 per adult -- two activities, lunch and open bar included.

Strange but it seems that there is more than one link. The one mentioned here in my previous post will get you the $30.00 rate.

It looks to me like the $30 rate doesn't include the 2 activities that they are extra but the $45 rate does. Anyone have any idea for sure???? I would like to book this but am confused.

This is what the website currently states:

 

"This tour is really a great deal. For just $30.00 for adults and $15.00 for kids, you get a cruise of the bay, lunch, 5 hours of open bar, use of beach facilities, two activities like horseback riding or snorkeling, and round-trip transportation."

Yeah I do see that on the side. But when you scroll through the body it looks like the activities cost extra. $30 is an awesome deal. Can anyone verify who has been on this tour?

Before I booked I called and asked. Answer I received was yes 2 activities for the $30 adult and $15 child.

It is my understanding that they only have mixed drinks available if you are on one of the tours. Otherwise they only sell eer.

Has anyone used King David's AND chosen the horseback riding option?

 

I would like to know about it. Were the horses well cared for and treated well during the ride? I don't want to support a company who does not care/treat their animals well.

Sorry for the delay in answering questions...hope this info will still help someone. When we booked it was $30 for adults and $15 for kids, which included the 2 activities choices. Our 4 year old was free. I emailed my questions to them and they responded right away.

Hugo met us at the cruise terminal, took a taxi (truck with seats in the back) to the ferry. Our ferry ride was about 45 minutes, with open bar of margaritas and beer - and it took us on a tour of the harbor and saw some caves and sea lions. Then took us to the island, where we boarded a tractor cart. Rode this thru a small village for about 15 minutes. We saw the horses - they looked o.k., keep in mind the island is primitive in general. They served mixed drinks and/or beer on the island, just not a whole lot of variety. Pacifico beer, margaritas, non name brand stuff...basically the tour group sets up a bar, and you just go up and order what you want for free, (tip jar on the bar). Mostly we stuck to margaritas. The food was good, and as mentioned above, our 4 year old was free (no lunch included) - so we ordered him a quesadilla from the menu for a couple of bucks. We actually didn't use any of the activity choices. We spent our entire time on the beach gathering shells. There were a ton of sand dollars and starfish the kids could pick up and hold. Lots of cool shells, built sand castles, etc. Our kids are young, (4, 7) so none of the activities appealed to us. We felt it was a good price regardless - transportation, lunch, harbor tour, drinks, etc. They treated us very well. The banana boat ride looked like a lot of fun, snorkeling would have been difficult right by beach (murky water). I know a lot of people do this on their own, but it was worth it us, especially with the kids, to have someone showing us around. I would say we were on the beach about 3 hours, including lunch time. Just about perfect amount of time. Back on ship in time to clean up for dinner. Enjoy!!
