dixie54 Posted January 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2009 How does it work? I have called the number on the back of the card and they can't tell me how many points is equal to how many dollars OBC. They say that don't have that information. Thanks for any advice! Kanebaby Posted January 6, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Here is a link to the RCCL website that will give you point info: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/dealsandmore/offer/visa.do;jsessionid=0000LwUbYCDhgI5TMfurQjDRr51:12hdhu87a?cS=NAVBAR
javalina Posted January 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2009 If you follow the Visa card link in the CAS section of the Royal Caribbean web page, it will give a list of what points equal what value OBC. Right now I think it's 100-1, as in 15000 points equals $150 OBC.
Sue L Posted January 6, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2009 The number for BofA is 1-800-421-2110. Request a certificate for a 10,000 points redemption or whatever 5000 point increments you have. The number for RCI Points Redemption is 1-888-305-4626. When you get your certificate, there will be a certificate number on it. Call RCI Points Redemption, give them the number and how you want the certificate used ...then fill out the certificate, check off the proper box, MAKE A COPY, and send to the address given. __________________ You need to use "their lingo". You can't ask for $400 OBC, they don't know what you are talking about. Here's what to say now: "Hi, I'd like to redeem my Royal Caribean Visa Reward points. I'd like 1- 25,000 point coupon and 3 -5,000 point coupons." Or whatever it is that I want. The folks at BoA won't know what you are talking about if you ask for the free robe certificate, or the picnic basket certificate, but if you ask for the point value and the number of coupons you want, they should know what you want without hassle. laseiber Posted January 6, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2009 Also you start to loose points after so many years, and it is very hard to get a straight answer from both the cc company, and RCCL when cashing in points for voucher. You call cc company and cash in so many points, they send voucher to you, and you send into RCCL to pay for free cruise (never free) because the free room is inside cabin so to upgrade you need to pay difference, ship board credit, etc. You get a better value on the 7 day as apposed to a 5 day. So if you have been saving for a few years be aware that you start loosing. We plan to cash in all our points, and then use different card, and are free to try other cruise lines, not that we couldn't before, but was saving up points. Ready to try others that are cheaper, and closer so we don't have to fly.

Plus using the 125K points for the lowest OV cabin ( if you want to consider this an inside), and then upgrading to a Balcony, is saving you a great deal of cash! I have used the 125K points for the free fare for 2 on a 7 night cruise ( received $2500.00 off my cabins), to me it's well worth using the card!:p Pay your balance every month and you get free OBC, money off your cabin, free cruise ( not including port taxes/gov. fees) for no cost to you! CBowling Posted January 7, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 7, 2009 First of all make sure you talk to a "specialist" at RCCL. I attempted to redeem points a couple of years ago and asked if I could use on "sister" company Celebrity and was assured I could. I called in for my coupons, and received them, then called Celebrity back and was told by the reservation person that they aren't transferable from one line to the other. THEN the credit card didn't want to take back my points. Long story short, threw a hissy fit and FINALLY got my points back on the card. Here it is 2 years later and have a boatload (no pun intended) of points, and am trying to redeem again. We want to do a 4 night cruise in May. I got smarter this time and called the Crown and Anchor Society and asked how to proceed. They connected me to the "specialist"!!! Didn't hear that term last time. Specialist says call request coupons, etc, etc. Basically the value is the price of the inside cabin at the time of booking. I was told by the specialist to request 2 vouchers, 1 for 50,000 points for the inside cabin and 1 for 25,000. which will cover the cost of the 2nd person in an inside cabin. I am booking 3 junior suites, and will receive whatever off the value is at the time of booking. I will update you if this doesn't work out the way they say.
