Jack & Geri, I just upgraded our reservation to a 4S cabin on the Promenade deck. We're very excited about it. Do you have any pictures of the cabin? I'm wondering how it differs from the other inside cabins. Also, does the Serenity area have whirlpools? From the deck plans it looks like it is glassed in, is that right?

I'm sorry, I don't have any pictures of that room or any room like it. We just had 3 inside cabins on the Lido Deck. The serenity does not have any whirlpools and it is half glassed in. There is a section where the glass goes from the deck up about 7 or 8 feet, but there is also a section where its just the deck with the railing. Caution about section w/o glass -- it can get a bit windy up there.

I too just got back from the Splendor cruise. I have to agree with Mike about how great this cruise and staff were. The cruise director Goose and his staff were better than I anticipated.

We also have kids and they also ordered a cheeseburger and fries in the main dining room. (As did numerous other kids) I'm sure the waiter or ass't. waiter did NOT run up to the Lido deck to get the kids food. They must have other kitchen employees running to get these orders. I don't think anyone sitting in our area was neglected by our waiter and ass't.

It was nice to see not as many people saving lounge chairs on the Lido deck after continuous announcements on the big screen everyday. I also saw a pool attendant remove peoples towels after a couple of hours with no one actually sitting in the chair.

Again Mike, I have to agree with everything you just said.

(We did see ALL the shows and they were ALL great-even the Broadway style reviews)

Overall. we had a GREAT time and My wife and I are going to start researching our next Carnival cruise this week.

We were on this same cruise...

Regarding the mini-golf: typical mini golf course. our only complaint were the kids that seem to have ABSOLUTELY no respect for any other person wanting to play. We played 1 round then said, no more!

IMO, the food in the dining room was OK...some of the food that should have been hot, wasn't - (I know...they have to feed so many people that it's hard to get everyone a hot meal).

Chair hogs on Lido deck: I only saw 1 attendant take anything off of a chair and that was when some lady complained. Other than that, I don't think they really care if anyone saves a chair.

Shows: went to the Percy Crews II early show - it was pretty good. Didn't make the late night show. My daughter (20 yrs old), saw the Vroom show 2 times (if you've seen this, you'd know why :D). Despite the 2 small "costume malfunctions" it was pretty good.

Bingo & Casino: was a little disappointed that you couldn't pay cash for bingo cards. But...was happy that my friend won half of the $1199 bingo game! Casino was OK...found 1 machine that I managed to play for a while on with only $20.

All in all...a good trip. Could do without the stop in LaRomana...the excursion that we took really wasn't worth the $$$.

Curtain or door? Just want to know if I should bother to bring clips to hold the bottom of the curtain from sticking to me? Thanks...nice to hear a good review. I leave on the same cruise in 7 days.

Thanks for the review. We did this itinerary on the Splendor in early December and really enjoyed it.

The shower curtain question brings to mind our experience with the one in our cabin on the Splendor. Neither of us had trouble with it sticking :) and somewhere around the third day we realized that if we got the curtain all wet with the sprayer it would stretch long enough that it stayed inside the lip around the shower floor and we didn't end up with water all over the bathroom.

Happy sails to you!

Mary Lou
