Bibi Posted January 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Has anyone used the self serve washers and dryers on the Caribbean Princess? Do they do the job? Is there a line up to use them? Thanks for the feedback.
gunner22a Posted January 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Mid day was the peak period on those days we were at sea. Port days the place on our deck (Emerald) was deserted. I used the place once very early in the morning and had no problems at all. The machines each take 4 quarters as I remember and you had best bring them with you. The change machine was broken and when I was doing laundry there was no place open to get them. We were on the Golden to Hawaii 28 Nov - 12 Dec. I can't speak for other Princess ships as this was my first experience with them although far from my first cruise.
paul929207 Posted January 12, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2009 We have used the laundry on seveal other Princess ships and never had a problem. They are usually least crowded mid morning on port days.
Caribbean Sunsets Posted January 12, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2009 I've also used them on other Princess ships and it was fine. If you decide to leave the room during the wash or dry cycle, make sure you are back promptly...but that's a whole other thread.:)
GottaLuvCruising Posted January 13, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2009 I'm an early riser and always start laundry on my way to morning coffee (usually by 6am). After coffee and before breakfast I "shift" everything to the dryer. After breakfast, I take it back to the room. Using this arrangement, I very rarely wait for a machine, don't waste much of my cruise time and dirty laundry doesn't pile up (eeeeew!). I do pack a few baggies of detergent, dryer sheets and a collapsible hamper / laundry bag.
rimau Posted January 13, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2009 I have used them in the evening and never had a problem. Formal night was a good time. The iron was getting a workout but not the washers. I also bring my own detergent in a ziplock because I need the perfume free stuff
flvol77 Posted January 13, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 13, 2009 Has anyone used the self serve washers and dryers on the Caribbean Princess? Do they do the job? Is there a line up to use them? Thanks for the feedback. They do the job and if you go at odd times you will never have a problem with a line - I do think they ask you not to use them between 10 pm to 6 am because so many slam the door (imagine that on a cruise ship) to the laundry facilities....Princess started locking the door at night because of it on a couple of our cruises. afiremedic323 Posted January 13, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2009 I would suggest to use them in the morning or late at night, but you never know, if the closest onw to your cabin is busy, check another deck, we were on Aloha and the line was 4 deep, I checked the on down on baja and it was wide open, also if your flying in, swing by the store and pick up some laundry soap, and dryer sheets that way you have less of a chance of the bottle spilling all over your stuff, and like another poster stated, bring quarters with you as the change machine is usually busted, the casino can help you out with this if needed.
