cocco89 Posted December 9, 2009 #554 Share Posted December 9, 2009 (edited) Deck: 11 - Penthouse Deck Cabin: 1610 Class: Aqua Class (AQ) Starboard or Port Side: Starboard Bed near? (balcony or bath): Bath Quiet Cabin: We did not hear any noise from the deck above. Balcony View: Full forward and Starboard views Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? Definitely oversized for this class. There was plenty of room to move the table and layout in the sun on sea days. This is also a very private balcony. The overhand ends at the end of the balcony. Was wind a problem? No. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? No Any other comments? The cabin is smaller than I expected, although the height of the bed and closet space allowed more than enough storage for 6 suitcases full of clothes. On the 11/20/09 Solstice cruise, the decking on the pool deck near the stage was taken up and a layer of sound proofing was installed to reduce noise from the deck above. cereus Posted December 15, 2009 #555 Share Posted December 15, 2009 Deck - Panarama Cabin # - 9380 Class – concierge Starboard or Port Side - sv aft Bed near?(balcony or bath) –bath Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Solstice cabin very quiet- Equinox mostly quiet, a waterpipe gurgling sound in bath. didn't bother us but if your hearing is super acute, it might Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – view was great as always on an aft cabin. We had a table, 2 chairs that reclined and 2 ottomans. On the Solstice, we had no ottomans but it was not concierge so perhaps thats why or maybe they listened when I suggested ottomans would be nice. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - The balcony on both Solstice and Equinox was smaller than the balconys on either side. I noticed when looking down at the other balconys, they seemed to be larger all the way down. Was wind a problem? No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? A small amt on the Equinox deck sometimes. Any specific problems with this cabin? A little tight on storage but workable Any other comments? The service on both ships was friendly and efficient. Always a smile. Our room steward on the Equinox was ok but not as friendly & timely as in our past X cruises.

Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Yes, but not every day. Depended on which direction the smoke was going. Some days there was no soot, some days a lot of soot. Make sure you wear flip-flops….your feet or socks will be black! Any specific problems with this cabin? No Any other comments? Cabin steward hosed down the floor of the balcony most days there was soot.
Seahorse44 Posted December 15, 2009 #557 Share Posted December 15, 2009 Deck - 10 Cabin - 1070 Equinox Class - C1 Starboard Bed near - Bath Quiet Cabin - Mostly. It shares entry doors with 1068. Then slightly forward is a main crew door. In AM you may notice it if you are a light sleeper. Ear plugs worked for me, DH wasn't bothered. Balcony view - Midship no obstructions. Could see lifeboats way below but not an issue. Balcony Size - Normal Wind - no; Soot - N/A Good Cabin overall, I would take it again. Very stable location due to being midship. Equidistant either way to forward or main elevators. I can't find the link to the spreadsheet - Can you post it again? Thanks
Denny01 Posted December 15, 2009 #558 Share Posted December 15, 2009 Deck - 9 Cabin # - 9247 Class – C2 Starboard or Port Side - Port Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet. Is connecting. No issues. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Mostly Unobstructed. Aft of the Hump so ‘see’ aft-facing hump balconies a bit and can’t see the bow, but not a real issue. Only see people standing at rails, not into balconies. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Standard. Was wind a problem? No. Aft of Hump which blocked wind. Very nice. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? NA Any specific problems with this cabin? None. Beautiful. Loved the aft-of-hump placement. Any other comments? I would go with a bed near the bath next time. Thought we’d love the bed near the balcony, but always dark anyway and no views from bed except AM. Had a Cabin Crawl and liked the desk/sofa setup near the balcony for viewing and just a bit more maneuvering room with that setup. Denny

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Bump out, faces forward, very nice, roof over the top blocks some sun, when coming into port on the port side you can see the crew working from the bump out part of the bridge. fairwaymob Posted December 16, 2009 #560 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Deck - 11 Cabin # - 1588 Class – Aqua Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Bed near?(balcony or bath) – balcony Fairly quiet Cabin – sometimes in the morning you can hear the pool porters moving loungers around on the deck above Balcony View - Good view, posts on either side do not interfer with direct sight lines Balcony Size? Very reasonable in size, two loungers with footstools and small table Was wind a problem? no wind issues, actually very calm with pool deck overhead Any specific problems with this cabin? no cabin issues, for those who like to watch television in bed, the t.v. does pull-out and rotate - don't wait two days to figure this out. Any other comments? This cabin is in the direct centre of the vessel and helps alleviate the sense of rocking as it's on the axis. The elevators fore and midship are very close. Although close to the elevators, a separating wall from them kept any noise away. Balcony View - no obstruction, view straight out to water, to front and back (saw almost everything portside) Balcony Size? ENORMOUS for a 1A, the largest possible. (approx. 90 sq. ft.) Was wind a problem? No, as cabin was the first one after the hump. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? No. Storage was sufficient (barely) for 14 night cruise, might have been a problem for a longer trip. Any other comments? An absolutely great 1A cabin. Wine-O Posted December 20, 2009 #564 Share Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) Deck - 10 Cabin # - 1247 Class – C1 Starboard or Port Side - Port Side Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Bath Fairly quiet Cabin – Very quiet Balcony View - Good view. You can see everything aft. Balcony Size? Huge Balcony Was wind a problem? No wind problems because on the aft angle of the hump. Additional comments: This stateroom was a connecting cabin. Having previously sailed on Solstice in a non-connecting cabin, I prefer the non-connecting unless I was actually using it as a connecting cabin, simply because of the nature of the doors to the cabin and bath. We were previously in stateroom 1606 where the stateroom door opened out, into the passageway, and the bathroom door opened from left to right, toward the cabin door, making it for easy entry into the bathroom. Because of the nature of the connecting rooms, the cabin door opens into the stateroom, and the bathroom door opens from right to left, making it awkward as you had to go around the door once opened to enter the bathroom. P.S. This is no longer a sticky? Edited December 20, 2009 by Wine-O

Heard deck chairs above moving once or twice. Balcony View - Awesome! Has a wrap-around balcony. You can see starboard , aft and port side. Balcony Size? Huge If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? There was soot on some days depending on the wind direction. It was never a problem and the balcony was hosed down periodically. Recommend wearing flip-flops and you will be fine. Was wind a problem? No wind problems at all. Additional comments: We would book this cabin again in a heartbeat. Lots of closet and drawer/shelf space. Also enjoyed the full tub in the bath. Note if connecting. ) – The cabin didn't creak as the ship moved, but there was a serious lack of soundproofing. We regularly heard voices and television from adjacent cabins in our room. Celebrity should have soundproofed the cabins better. Balcony View - Nice view, no obstructions. Neighbors smoked on their verandah. This policy is not enforced. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? windy at times on the verandah If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Any specific problems with this cabin? Any other comments? decent size, closet space, bathroom nightlight is great since I tend to get up during the night. Sinks are a little small and tough to wash your face in, due to elevated wash-basin style. Shower has fixed head and no hand-held extension. taracruiser Posted December 26, 2009 #568 Share Posted December 26, 2009 Deck - 8 Cabin # - 8166 Class – Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Bed near?(balcony or bath) – yes Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Not quiet at all. Loud creaking kept us up at night. Lack of soundproofing between cabins enables you to hear whole conversations in the next room. Balcony View - normal view, no obstuctions Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? yes If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Any specific problems with this cabin? Major creaking noise and neighbor noise is enough to make you request a room change, which we did and got. Any other comments? caladvoc8 Posted December 27, 2009 #570 Share Posted December 27, 2009 This seems to be a good idea. However, I have only one inquiry; and, that is simply whether these inquiries are promoted or sanctioned by the moderators of cruise critic. If not, I would assume that the aforesaid have no objection thereto since they have not been banned. Huh? Yours is the 580th post on a thread that has existed for over 11 months (in the form of a sticky no less) and you are wondering if CC might be blithely overlooking a practice it would have halted had it only exercised more vigilance? Methinks you give the forum gods (whom you curiously risk bestirring with your post) way too little credit. ;)
