njaloha Posted February 13, 2015 #2352 Share Posted February 13, 2015 SHIP: Silhouette CABIN #: 1544 DECK #: 11 - Penthouse CLASS: Aqua Class (A2) AREA: Starboard Forward BED NEAR: Balcony QUIET?: Cabin is under retail area of beauty salon and walkway to spa reception and fitness area. I heard thump thump thump as people walked around from elevators to spa and fitness areas quite early in the morning (6:30am). Cabin is right outside elevator lobby and we didn't hear any noise from that at all. BALCONY VIEW: Slightly obstructed above balcony due to window washing equipment (see picture) Otherwise clear view forward and to stern. BALCONY SIZE: Excellent - enough room for 2 reclining loungers, footrests and a table. WIND A PROBLEM?: No, the dividers between cabin balconies provided a wonderful wind break. SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Cabin is in excellent shape. easy access to forward elevators/stairways. Open cabin door and it's all right there. Jump on the elevator or walk up the stairs to the Aqua Spa Cafe for lunch and bring it back to cabin. Easy access to Solarium pool and Relaxation Room. Is fully undercover so lots of shade at rear, sun towards the rail. WIND A PROBLEM?: Not at all, even during a storm found the verandah very sheltered. SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Wonderful location, adjacent midship lifts and stairs. There is a stewards closet just outside however we never heard any loud noise or banging that some have mentioned (maybe our steward was a little more gentle in closing the door!!). Found the cabin door extremely sound proof, did not hear the lifts or passing traffic. Awesome water pressure in the shower!! Here are some pics of the larger than standard verandah. Grandmaanne7 Posted March 5, 2015 #2361 Share Posted March 5, 2015 SHIP: Eclipse CABIN: 7130 DECK: 7 CLASS: 2B AREA: Forward Starboard BED NEAR: Balcony QUIET?: Very. The odd clicking sound but nothing annoying. BALCONY VIEW: Good BALCONY SIZE: Normal WIND A PROBLEM?:No SOOT A PROBLEM?:No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Although this is classified as an unobstructed cabin, there was a white overhang 2 decks below that prevented one from seeing straight down. Not a big deal but I was surprised. Otherwise, you could see forward and aft and actually watch them work in the bridge while docking which was neat. Im A Happy Cruiser Posted March 11, 2015 #2363 Share Posted March 11, 2015 SHIP- Equinox CABIN - 8345 DECK- 8 CLASS - Sky Suite (SS1) AREA - aft (port side) BED NEAR - balcony QUIET - very quiet BALCONY VIEW - wake of ship and port side of ship BALCONY SIZE - 6 feet x 22 feet WIND A PROBLEM - somewhat breezy when the ship was moving but certainly not a problem SOOT A PROBLEM - soot was visible on the deck floor a couple of days-the cabin attendant wiped down the railings and chair arms everyday so we did not consider soot a problem (I did ask that two pool towels be provided each day to lay over the chairs when we were sitting on the balcony) COMMENTS/PROBLEMS - One support pole (close to the bed on the side closest to the bathroom) - LOTS of storage space in the bath, closet, desk area and bar area (no storage cabinets over the bed as in most cabins) - lockable door located just before reaching this cabin and the one beside it (would make it very convenient if you had parents and children traveling together)

BALCONY SIZE: oversize WIND A PROBLEM?: No SOOT A PROBLEM?: Just a little PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: I really liked this cabin. It is a long walk from the cabin to the elevators but you get used to it. There is a soot/smoke smell that I didn't like on the balcony. The soot wasn't too bad. It was very hot out there. Difficult to stay on balcony because of smell and sun too strong. sparkopotamus Posted March 16, 2015 #2366 Share Posted March 16, 2015 SHIP: Silhouette CABIN #: 2134 DECK #: Deck 12 CLASS: S2 AREA: Mid-Aft, Starboard BED NEAR: Between balcony and door QUIET?: Yes, however there are food cart noises relative to menu changes until 10 PM from Oceanview Cafe (directly above). BALCONY VIEW: Overhang, but we didn't mind BALCONY SIZE: Oversized with a slight ramp (Accessible-friendly) WIND A PROBLEM?: No SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: We were assigned this cabin as an S2 GUAR. The S2 Accessible cabins are ~60 sq ft larger than the non-Accessible S2s (according to =X=). The additional stateroom and verandah space was nice, and the bathroom was really large. However there is less under-cabinet space in the bathroom than the other S2s, and no lip around the shower so we made a dam with our towels every time we showered to keep the water at least somewhat contained. No bathtub, but not an issue for us. The couch is more of a love-seat size than a 3-seater, again not an issue for us. We loved the convenience to the gym, Solarium, and AquaSpa Cafe (where we had breakfast each morning) as they are on this deck. We would happily have S2 Accessible again (NOTE: we did not ask for S2 Accessible, and I asked =X= to make certain those who need Accessible had it before we did--we would have been happy in a non-Accessible S2. This was a Suite Guarantee, so you get what you're assigned). Aside from the Oceanview Cafe noise it was quiet in the passageway because there are so few cabins on Deck 12. Very convenient to stairs and elevators.
RickT Posted March 17, 2015 #2367 Share Posted March 17, 2015 SHIP: Equinox CABIN: 7192 DECK: 7 CLASS: 2B AREA: Forward Starboard BED NEAR: Bathroom QUIET?: Very. BALCONY VIEW: Good, cabin positioned so that no lifeboats are visible when looking down. BALCONY SIZE: Normal WIND A PROBLEM?:No SOOT A PROBLEM?:No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: The bow thrusters could be felt more than I recall. Not a big deal but you could sometimes feel them when docking/pulling away. Loved the cabin, have already booked it for my next cruise. Very convenient location, near the elevators and stairs but far enough way so that there is minimal hall traffic.
wattsde Posted March 17, 2015 #2368 Share Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) Ship: Reflection Cabin: 6148 Deck:6 Class 2C Area: Near to Forward elevators Bed near: Balcony Quiet: Not at all (over public restroom and pneumatic deck doors: continuous flushing and thumping) Balcony View: You are over the top of the lifeboats so you can't see directly down but the obstruction is not noticeable when seated and looking outward. Comments: Cons: I would never book this cabin again. It was the noisiest most miserable Celebrity cabin I have ever occupied. When the toilets weren't flushing late into the night, the gangway was right below you so you got an early morning wake-up as the sea-passes "dinged" through. The pneumatic door was constantly opening and closing and seemed to operate 24/7. Pros: it was convenient to theater, spa, pool and coffee bar. miaminative0853 Posted March 18, 2015 #2369 Share Posted March 18, 2015 SHIP: Equinox CABIN #: 8343 DECK #: 8 CLASS: 1A AREA: Port BED NEAR: Balcony QUIET?: Yes. Just a little noise from the creaky bathroom floor! BALCONY VIEW: Excellent due to oversized balcony that extends out slightly affording a great view forward. Not much of a view aft but no less than what most cabins have BALCONY SIZE: About 20% larger than standard WIND A PROBLEM?: No SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: It's about as far a walk from elevators/stairs as you can get so if that's a problem skip this cabin. Only one other cabin is adjacent to this one as there is a hallway and what appears to be a small storage closet between you and the aft-facing suites. Some very minor noise in the morning but nothing worth taking a pass. The bathroom floor was more of any annoyance -- sounded like you were walking on a tin can every time. Our outbound sea days were very windy and we experienced lots of movement but not sure if it was any greater due to the cabin being at the aft end. All in all choose this cabin only if you are interested in a somewhat larger and more private balcony.

Did not hear noise from events in the atrium. BALCONY VIEW: Excellent due to oversized balcony that extends out slightly affording a great view aft. No "tunnel vision" because of the angle. BALCONY SIZE: Very large (this is the first cabin on the aft side of the hump). On sunny days most of the balcony was in shade but the outer 1/3 had sun. WIND A PROBLEM?: No SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Sink faucet is connected backwards, so you pull the handle to the right for hot and left for cold [shower is connected in the normal way]. Team Alpha Posted March 30, 2015 #2372 Share Posted March 30, 2015 SHIP: Solstice CABIN #: 7311 DECK #: 7 CLASS: Sunset Veranda AREA: Stern BED NEAR: Balcony QUIET?: Very quiet. BALCONY VIEW: Fantastic BALCONY SIZE: Standard. WIND A PROBLEM?: No SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS:These stern cabins on S class have received comments on soot before. They must be burning a cleaner fuel mix as it was not a problem at all on our 17 night cruise. 100mtr walk from lifts/staircase but that did not bother us - if you had mobility problems then this long walk would make the cabin unsuitable. No overhang on the balcony so no shade at times. Interconnecting to 7315

ailetoile Posted April 1, 2015 #2374 Share Posted April 1, 2015 SHIP: Silhouette CABIN #: 9370 DECK #: 9 CLASS: Concierge (C2) AREA: Starboard, near aft. BED NEAR: Bath QUIET?: Yes, very. BALCONY VIEW: Good looking forward and straight out. Can't see towards the aft because the cabin is the last one on the starboard side. BALCONY SIZE: Above average. There's a bump-out on one side of the balcony that gives one side a bit of extra space. WIND A PROBLEM?: Not really (it was bad enough to whip my hair around when it was down). SOOT A PROBLEM?: No. PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: The shower leaked a little bit unless you were very forceful in turning it off, and the water pressure wasn't super. Otherwise, it was a standard Celebrity cabin. Definitely on the quiet side. Due to the location near the aft it wouldn't be ideal for anyone with mobility issues, but we enjoyed the extra bit of walking.
