S-Class Cabin Information Compilation - PLEASE - DO NOT POST CABIN QUESTIONS HERE!!!

Just got back from the 1/25/2009-2/01/2009 sailing ....FABULOUS !!

If you're looking at a picture of the Solstice - This cabin is the 6th one from the front on the starboard ( right) side - it's the balcony Directly over the letter C in SOLSTICE ( written on side of ship) ....

An unobstructed view that looked straight down into the water... MANY straight down views were blocked by lifeboats... :(

This cabin was great !! Not too far from elevators, but far enough that you didn't have a ton of traffic. Michelle R. was our steward - Best steward we've ever had - she greeted us by name the whole cruise - would see us coming and open the door for us !!

This cabin is in the front where the theater and the casino is down 2 flights -.. Could not hear a peep from the theater during showtimes while in cabin ...

Food is on the opposite end of the ship.. If you like a good walk and some stairs for exercise ( to go to buffet on 12 ) ( we do ) then, it's a great cabin..

Deck - 6

Cabin # - 6112

Class – 2B

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – yes- except remember cruise doors slam heavy - especially when teh veranda doors are open -- That can't be helped... But other than that - - very quiet.. No squeaking either)

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. –

See above - - -I truly thought one of the best locations for a veranda

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal.

Was wind a problem? Was windy first and last day - but not an issue of the ship ... Just a windy/choppy day !

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? None !! wait - bring a makeup mirror... No magnifying make up mirrors in room ( which I thought was odd - every other line has them)

Any other comments? Stinks to be home :(

Do not use this thread to ask about specific cabins. Only post if you are giving information on a cabin.

This thread was created to compile information that others are returning when someone posts information about a cabin I will add it to the spreadsheet and you can then search this thread for the post with the additional information. If you want to ask for info on a specific cabin - start a new thread.

With many looking for information on specific cabins on Solstice I thought it might be good to have a form of sorts for everyone to post basic information on each cabin that is easily read and searchable.

Hopefully if future cruisers will cooperate we can eventually obtain information on most every cabin and possibly get it as a sticky. Below is the information that I have noticed many wanting to know about the cabins. Please add any pertinant information that I might have missed. I will add a post after this one with just the questions that you can "Reply To" and add your information without copying and editing this first post. I hope to eventually get the basic info in a table and will try to post that periodically within the thread.

Please name your post with the title "Cabin # xxxx" so that those searching for information on a specific cabin can locate those easier with the search this forum option by using the cabin number that they need info on.

After the questions please add any comments concerning location - close to elevators, far from specific venues, etc. Also, post links to your photos of specific cabins or attach photos to the post.

Deck - 9

Cabin # - 9380

Class – Concierge 1

Starboard or Port Side - Aft/Stern

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Closet & Bathroom

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Yes, we found it to be a quiet stateroom. It was a connecting door room.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – The view out over the wake was always enticing. I didn't find the "exposure" factor for above & below staterooms to be an issue.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal.

Was wind a problem? Wind was a bit of a problem, but even folk on the islands were complaining of the wind during our two weeks cruising.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Soot was not a problem. I found a few specks, but nothing problematic.

Any specific problems with this cabin? We found this arrangement to feel small, non-spacious, and have poor flow.

Any other comments?

Our only real problem with this stateroom was the arrangement. We just didn't feel that having the bed near the closet worked for us. Edited by CelebrityMan

Deck - 11

Cabin # - 1507

Class – Aqua Class

Starboard or Port Side - Port Side

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – No, not quiet. It was not a connecting stateroom. I didn't see any Aqua Class that were.

What made it not a quiet cabin is that this area of cabins on the forward port side are under the Aqua Spa and various rooms there are being used for exercise routines in the early morning or late evening. I am not a light sleeper, my partner is, but both of us were disturbed by the noises. Heavy treads, heavy stomping, heavy thumping in landing on the floor above started as early as 7:00 a.m. and often continued 'til 11:00 p.m.

The other noise issue related to the glass veranda divider. The divider opens, and as a result is not solidly latched. In the unusual winds this cruise experienced, the glass divider rattled, annoyingly! We had to find a way to shim it, and used one of the wood cuticle pushers from the nail kit in the bathroom. Worked fine, solved the problem.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. - The view is, obviously, off to whatever is on the port side, and is a full side view. Very nice!! An added benefit was being able to watch officers work in the port bridge wing when coming into or leaving port.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal for class, felt much more spacious, though, than our Concierge Class 1 balcony in stateroom 9380.

Was wind a problem? - Yes, wind was often a problem. The two weeks we were on Solstice, even the folk on the islands visited were commenting on how odd the wind was.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - The only problems were that listed above with the rattling veranda divider, and a secondary issue of a stateroom door closure. The door into the passageway didn't shut and latch without our pushing it. If we weren't careful, the automatic closure didn't latch the door.

Any other comments? - We enjoyed all the special touches with Aqua Class. The shower panel was very nice, and the different teas brought daily in carafe were excellent for me, a tea lover.

Thanks to everyone for the information so far. Here is a link to the actual image since they are getting a little small to post now. http://s245.photobucket.com/albums/gg52/mysticks1/?action=view&current=SolsticeCabinInfo22-2-09.jpg You can make it a little larger here. It looks like I am going to have to figure out a way to make the image bigger or go ahead and break it into pieces. I will work on that over the next few days.

Quick Question Mysticks, Why do you have cabin1502 listed with two entries one with unobstructed view and one with an obstructed view?

Because it was reported that way. Different people, different opinions. That is the one with the window washing equipment so it could be that it depends on where they park it.

True! I guess as time goes by and more people voice an opinion you may be updating the same cabin a few times. Thanks for doing this by the way.:)

I will continue to put up multiple ones as we receive them. When it gets too large I will go back and delete out those that give the same opinions. If there are varying opinions on the same cabin it might be a crapshoot to book some of them as like in this case it might change from cruise to cruise.
