madiandcindy Posted January 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2009 I am thinking of doing a Disney cruise for the first time, I am wondering if the kids clubs close down any time in the day or evening. We went on a carnival cruise which I did NOT like and the kids club was closed during the hours we actually wanted to do stuff. It was very inconvenient. I was closed at times between 12-2pm then open 2-3 then closed 3-6 it was bad. Can anyone tell me the hours they are open on Disney? We have a 7 and a 5 year old. daltonsma Posted January 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2009 We just got back from our cruise on the Wonder. On the first day the room didn't open for official service until 6pm. The rest of the days it was open 9am until midnight or 1am. At castaway cay they have the "rooms" on the island. My kids absolutly LOVED the rooms and they loved scuttles cove on castaway. Lots of stuff to do.
Asney Posted January 25, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2009 We just returned from our cruise a week ago. My 3 yr old adored the clubs. The hours vary some what but it is typically from 7am or 9am to midnight or 1 am depending on what is going on for events on the ship. I absolutely recommend Disney cruise line if you are wanting family/adult time. It was the perfect mix!
Host Mick Posted January 25, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2009 To elaborate some, the kids' clubs don't close for meals. If your kid is enrolled during meal times, they will get marched to Topsider's to eat as a group. I remember something about them not allowing parents to take kids out of the program unless they are in the club spaces. Perhaps someone can confirm or deny this. Waltworshiper Posted January 28, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 28, 2009 You can take kids out from the restaurant, just not during the transition, when they are actually walking from place to place. Once they are settled in, they will set up a laptop and you will be able to check them in or out.

RandomIam Posted January 29, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Our 3 yo son loved the club. We went Jan 3-10 on the Magic. When we would pick him up, he'd ask to go back as soon as we got to our room. The hours were 9 am (maybe 8am some days) til 12 midnight. One night they were open til 1am but there were very few kids in there that late. The first day of the cruise they had an 'open house' until 7pm for parents to come in the club and explore with their kids. This allowed kids and parents to get a comfort level with the area and staff (which are incredible by the way). They then opened up for you to pick up/drop off kids as you please. They will page you if there is a problem, we didn't get paged once all week, except to tell us that they had booked us in Palo and were taking care of the babysitting arrangements. The clubs are open during times in port, including castaway cay. They close until shortly after you disembark at CC, then you can drop children off at Scuttle's Cove (the Club on the beach). Our son stayed there all day until they closed at 3pm. Then he reluctantly joined the rest of us on the beach. The club then reopens once everyone is back on board. Sometimes they take the kids (via a secure hallway that only crew members have access to) on 'field trips' to Topsiders (for dinner, lunch is served in the club), or out for some fresh air. They close any of these areas to the rest of the passengers and parents can check them in and out once they have arrived and set up their laptop. Take time to get to know the Club leaders, they were incredible and we still correspond with Joshua, from the Magic, who was our favorite. Our son still calls him the best. One other note, at Castaway Cay, they typically do not transport kids on/off the ship. We had a snorkeling excursion booked which left before Scuttle's Cove was open. They allowed us to check in our son, sign a permission slip for them to take him off the ship, and they escorted him off the boat and right to the kids area where we picked him up after snorkeling. They really work with you if you book excursions through the boat. They do not close during the day as they have staff that rotate hours rather than the same staff all the times that they are open.
