Orator Posted January 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2009 On the Emerald would you take Caribe deck or Lido deck for a BA cabin?
Umbarger Posted January 29, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Even though I like Lido deck cabins because they are so close to everything. I would choose Caribe because of the bigger balcony.
terrierjohn Posted January 29, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2009 No contest, Caribe Deck everytime and midships if possible.
Sox Fan Cruiser Posted January 29, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Absolutely take Caribe. You get a bigger balcony that is half covered and half uncovered. Plus you are in the middle of the activities. 4 flights up is the buffet and pools, and 3 or 4 flights down are the bars, theaters, casino and specialty restaurants. Clutterlady Posted January 29, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Had a Cribe balcony this past May, mid ship.....loved it!! Trying the Lido deck this year on the Emerald!:)
potchak Posted January 29, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2009 I have to admit I loved my caribe balcony on the ruby. Never been on a lido one, but the huge balcony was a major plus. And it did seem very close to everything.

Desert Cruizers Posted January 29, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 29, 2009 I agree with the above, the Caribe. We had the Caribe on our last Princess Cruise and loved the location, mid ship.
NorcalGuy Posted January 29, 2009 #11 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks for input. Booked Caribe. We always jokingly call our Caribe balcony the "Terrace" because they are so big and partially open above. LOL! They are perfect as they accomodate sun lovers as well as shade lovers. Tip: if anyone is traveling with friends or family, that you intend to be with a lot, especially at sailaways, you can book one Caribe balcony cabin and one (or more) inside cabins(s), across or nearby, and save lots of money! BeBes Girl Posted January 29, 2009 #13 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Caribe, never again on Lido. :) I've only sailed three times ever and so wondering why you would say "never again on Lido"? I'm currently booked on Golden going to Alask in May on the Aloha deck fwd so this is why I'm asking. Am I too far up on the ship....too far fwd? Do you recommend that we change to the Caribe deck?? Please advise.
moneys_sol Posted January 29, 2009 #14 Share Posted January 29, 2009 We had a price drop on out star princess alaska cruise for sept 09 and instead of taking the money our TA had us upgraded to BA. Does that mean will might get a caribe balcony??? Or are we probably going to end up with Lido?
Richie2pies Posted January 29, 2009 #15 Share Posted January 29, 2009 I like the Lido. Convenient to the pool and most of the food. Just don't book a cabin between the elevator and the door to the pool. (traffic)
Pam in CA Posted January 29, 2009 #16 Share Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks for input. Booked Caribe. You made the right choice. Absolutely nothing would entice me to book the Lido deck; I've had cabins in the past with public deck above me and I will never, ever book a cabin like that again, no matter how little foot traffic is expected. Lido is a great location, there could be a marching band on the deck above and it wouldn't be a problem. It is also good if you want to people watch on the open balconys below., I certainly wouldn't want to be on Caribe, anything but.

Please advise. You are fine on Aloha, Caribe would be another choice I would entertain. Lido deck has so much foot traffic to the over the bridge obsevation area on some of the Grand Class ships. The door to get out there is always slamming shaking the doors all the way down the hallway. The hallway was always sweltering from the double doors out to the pool deck area being stuck open and the additional set of swinging doors. The hot air gets sucked into the passageway along with all the cig smoke from the smoking area outside those doors as well. I would shut the doors but then as soon as someone else would walk through they stayed open again. :)

vanman Posted January 30, 2009 #23 Share Posted January 30, 2009 We had a Lido balcony on the Grand a couple of weeks ago and it was great. Very quiet and it was convenient being close to pool, gym and HC. No noise from above or pool area.

Maybe we just got lucky with the smoking issue. Possibly our location helped??? Again......just lucky. :)

I would book Lido again in a heartbeat. It was quite peaceful actually :D So sorry you didn't enjoy your time there Colo.:( Miriam
