Will HAL Offer a New Coupon Book?

There has been lots of discussion here about the coupon books HAL and some TAs offer, with the majority of us feeling they are essentially worthless. According to a post on the Princess forum, a new coupon book will soon be offered.

 

Beginning on voyages starting on or after February 1, 2009, Princess will be offering a new Onboard Value Coupon book with onboard savings up to $325 per book with a maximum of two books per cabin. Here's the skinny....

Jim, I have to say that this is far better than what HAL offers. There really is not anything in their coupon book I would use but in this one I would or might use

We might use the get some internet minutes free coupon and the coffee card...buy one, get one. That's all.

How about something free which might entice you to buy something? Perhaps 15 minutes of Internet time - which might move you to start buying time? Or a buy one, get one free for something you might actually want to buy? And then get you hooked to buy more?

We would use the internet minutes, but other than that, there is nothing to induce me to buy what I otherwise would not. We are not Spa users now, and at the price of services, and what I have heard about the high pressure sales pitch for other services/products that seems to be a mandatory part of every spa service, these discounts would not motivate me to try them.

We ignore coupon offers when considering cruises or TA's

 

I for one find wine, drink, and soda prices on ship an outrage. $38 for a $7 bottle of wine is just too much. And add to that 15% service charge???? Does it take twice as much effort to open a $70 bottle than one costing $35??? Its just nuts.

Cards, coupons, and mini discounts of inflated prices do not make bargains, or in this case, even reasonable prices.

We received the coupon books on our b2b Noordam cruise from FLL 11/08 to the Southern Caribbean. I actually won on both the match play BJ coupons. I would have played anyway, so it was a bonus. Happy to see PCL will have them for our cruise on the Coral Princess 4/26/09. Any bonus is welcomed if you would do it anyway!

Maybe we would use the coffee card, but that's about it. The last time we got a coupon book on HAL, I tried to use the $2 off a Bingo card. I was told I couldn't use it on that day.:( Not sure why. It was not any kind of special game.
