NHRedSoxFan Posted February 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2009 I want to buy Tortuga rum. Does anyone know if they will ship purchases to the US?
drew sailbum Posted February 3, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2009 From the Tortuga Rum Cakes official website FAQ's: Q: Can I order the Tortuga Rum? A: We do not ship the Tortuga Rum, but you can purchase the Original Tortuga Rum through Crown Liquors in South Florida. Majestic Distilling is the exclusive United States importer for Tortuga Rums of the Cayman Islands.
Le Cruiser Posted February 5, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2009 NHRedSoxFan; I'm with you but unfortunately, Drew is right. I've been to Grand Cayman twice and LOVE the Rum Licquer, always bring a bottle home with me. But you can't get it up in our neck of the woods, sadly. BUT - I'm headed back in March and will be bringing home a couple bottles. I guess your best bet is to try to contact the distributor Drew mentions and see if they will ship. And if they do, PLEASE post to this thread - I've got plenty of people here who'd love to get some.
TheVegasMan Posted February 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2009 Even though they contain a very small amount of alcohol I do not think it's legal to ship them across state lines. Phoenix Beverage, 718-609-7221 Riverside Distributors, 585-658-4701 Are the two closest distributors to New Hampshire.
tandemcruzr Posted February 6, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2009 Are we talking bottles of Tortuga Rum or the Tortuga Rum cakes?
drew sailbum Posted February 7, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2009 To clarify, it is legal to ship Tortuga Rum Cakes across state lines. After baking they contain less than 0.5% alcohol. Shipping of Tortuga Rum - a spirtous liquor - is a much more complicated matter and is governed by an array of laws. Your best bet is to find a distributor who supplies your state or a nearby state and try to buy it in a local liquor store. Of course you could always consider your diminishing Tortuga Rum supply to be the perfect reason to schedule another trip to the Cayman Islands for a refill. :D
