Rare Got2Cruise Posted February 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2009 So far I have been able to "reverse nickel and dime" my way to savings. I call it reverse nickel and dime because each of the savings have been small, but they are adding up. So far I have received $100 OBC from RCI through a special promotion, $62.50 pp C&A savings; $140 prepaid gratuities on a 7 day cruise from the TA, and now I am considering getting the RCI VISA with a special promotion of 10,000 bonus points which will give me an additional 100 OBC. What other promotions are people using to save a few bucks? List them here.

cassieroll Posted February 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2009 Excellent! I really need to find a good TA to get some of those perks.
bambam2972 Posted February 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2009 Well I don't have any additional tips for saving money... But don't forget about the opportunities for free drinks. Liquor tasting, captain's welcome aboard, C&A parties :)
cruisePRN Posted February 26, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2009 Be careful with choosing a TA. I had a price drop on my cruise and the TA wanted to charge me $35PP for any changes negating the fare drop. If the fare were to drop more then once which wouldn't surprise me then I'd have to pay every time. I always book directly with the cruise line now. Sometimes a bargain isn't a bargain :p
max227 Posted February 26, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 26, 2009 Getting a good TA can be huge. Ours just sent us a $200.00 check with our cruise doc's, because we booked a second cruise in Sept. Nothing we had planned on she called it Customer Appreciation.
Rare printingchick Posted February 26, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2009 I echo the "Well done!" comment! And it's nice to hear someone proud of the money they've saved, rather than complaining about the lack of cost-saving opportunities! I'm only a gold member, but I booked a NextCruise and got $100 OBC for us and our traveling companions and I'm trading in RCCL Visa points for an upgrade from inside cabin to Ocean View. ENJOY! And thanks for the upbeat post!
