Reverse Nickel and Diming

So far I have been able to "reverse nickel and dime" my way to savings. I call it reverse nickel and dime because each of the savings have been small, but they are adding up. So far I have received $100 OBC from RCI through a special promotion, $62.50 pp C&A savings; $140 prepaid gratuities on a 7 day cruise from the TA, and now I am considering getting the RCI VISA with a special promotion of 10,000 bonus points which will give me an additional 100 OBC. What other promotions are people using to save a few bucks? List them here.

Be careful with choosing a TA. I had a price drop on my cruise and the TA wanted to charge me $35PP for any changes negating the fare drop. If the fare were to drop more then once which wouldn't surprise me then I'd have to pay every time. I always book directly with the cruise line now. Sometimes a bargain isn't a bargain :p

I echo the "Well done!" comment!

And it's nice to hear someone proud of the money they've saved, rather than complaining about the lack of cost-saving opportunities!

I'm only a gold member, but I booked a NextCruise and got $100 OBC for us and our traveling companions and I'm trading in RCCL Visa points for an upgrade from inside cabin to Ocean View.

ENJOY! And thanks for the upbeat post!

Okay, here goes. $100 platinum balcony discount, $150 crown and anchor savings certificate on our cruise, $150 OBC from TA, $100 OBC Next Cruise, $400 OBC RCCL Visa. Free pre-cruise hotel on South Beach using Hilton Honors points. OMG, I think I've saved enough to pay for another cruise!!!

$400 OBC through our online TA.

$200 OBC shareholder credit.

Already prepaid gratuities

Already prepaid diamond wine package.

Already prepaid shore excursions.

Sooooo...

This $600 OBC credit will go towards some lovely dinners in Portifinos or Chops, wine tastings, thermal suite, onboard shopping, and maybe a $14.95 steak or two or three! :)

1 free airline ticket w/ FF points and a GREAT price on the other

$200 Gift Cards for clothes shopping prior to the cruise - World Points again

$200 Cash Back from Chase Rewards I forgot about

$25 Gift Certificate for dinner pre-cruise night in Miami - Chase Rewards

(I paid off our credit cards and started to close the accounts when I noticed I had point rewards - cashed all them in for some great discounts and then closed the accounts)
