Marie50 Posted March 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2009 Does anyone know if this ship is going in drydock or has been in drydock lately? Also is it going to have any updates in the future. Seems a lot of people who cruise this ship say it is getting worn out. Thanks
sodomojo Posted March 3, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2009 The Zaandam will have a 12 day drydock in January of 2010.
HALFans Posted March 3, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2009 We were on her a year ago, and she looked VERY good then. The crew was keeping up on the painting, refinishing woodwork, etc. Carpets looked very good. Only noticed some problems with aging seating in the Crow's nest, which is due for MAJOR overhaul in the dry-dock I think. The 'fake' grout work in the stateroom bathroom was kind of 'iffy', but it's just window dressing on fake tile I think. Nothing unusual or disturbing to my tastes. People who have sailed on many ships say that Holland America takes far better care of their fleet than most. (I don't know that from personal experience as I've only sailed the one line so far.) Jemima Posted March 3, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2009 We were on her 2 weeks ago and she was fine.
Sleepladypalmdesert Posted March 4, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 4, 2009 I was also on the cruise that Jemima was on. We thought she looked fine too. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. I agree with some of the Crow's Nest seating being sort of well used. There is a row of recliner type chairs that look out over the bow. They look like they have been used quite a lot and probably need to be replaced. Otherwise they seem to work on keeping her kept us continually.
