Sylvie Di Cristo http://pagesperso-orange.fr/dicristo/pivot-eng.htm

Dream tours http://www.dream-tours.com/

I have heard great things about Sylvie Di Cristo and have booked a tour with her in Monte Carlo to include St. Paul, Nice and Eze. I'm really looking forward to meeting her.

I have come to the conclusion that I want to book either Alain of Dream Tours or Sylvie Di Cristo when we are in the port of Villefranche. However in looking through all these threads and their websites, Alain is quite a bit lower in price for 6 people than Sylvie. Is there a difference in their tours?

I think you'll find a lot of fans of both tour companies on these boards. The problem is that there probably aren't any board members who have used both to be able to compare the services. I loved Dream Tours so am admittedly partial, but I would advise you to ask Sylvie if she provides any additional services not provided by her competitors and then sit down to compare side by side.

I think at this point, your itinerary question is much more important than choosing between two great guides. I've spent time in the area on ground, port days, and private tours. My favorite in the area is St. Paul de Vence. I'm a little confused on your options. Where did you get that list of options? With any private guide, you can customize your itinerary. Here are two itineraries I've used on private tours during one-day port stops in Villefranche.

Villefranche - Eze - St. Paul de Vence - Monte Carlo - Villefranche

Villefranche - Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild - St. Paul de Vence (longer stop here because this is where we wanted to spend the most time) - St. Agnes (VERY nice stop off the beaten path with no other tourists) - Monte Carlo (quick stop) - Villefranche

Have a great trip,

Donna

I used Sylvie in 2005 and had a great day and plan to use her for our 2nd med trip next April.

Donna,

I'm interensted in what you did in Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and St. Agnes. What is there to see there? Since this is our 2nd trip, I'd like to see more out-of-the way areas as well. Thanks!

I really liked having the villa as part of our itinerary because while we see so many of those building from the outside, it's nice to go inside one. The tea room is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen because it has spectacular views of the Riviera, and the grounds (gardens) are great.

St. Agnes was also quite a treat. The drive there was wonderful and is similar to the Amalfi Coast drive in that if you are scared of winding roads and heights, you would want to sit away from the precipes. St. Agnes is very small and quaint with very few tourists, so it's a nice change from Eze and St. Paul de Vence. But with the routing we used on that tour, we were in St. Paul de Vence (first stop after the villa) before it got crowded.

Here are some links that might help you decide.

Donna,

Thanks so much for the additional information. St. Agnes looks beautiful, and we will probably also go back to St. Paul de Vence since we loved it, too.

Which itinerary

Full day (8-9 hours)

Riviera panorama

Saint-Tropez

The markets of the Italian Riviera

Monaco

Aix-en-Provence

We are thinking of doing the Riviera panorama from Revelation Tours but I'm unclear on something. Will they meet us from the tender at Cannes like a private tour guide would? The price is very reasonable at 95 euros/pp. Any info would be appreciated! Shelly:)

Shelly, I think I answered this on another thread, but no harm answering here, as well. YES, Revelation Tours will pick you up right at the tender in Cannes. We had Michel as our driver; we all (8 of us) loved him.

We plan to visit the cities outside of Cannes including Grasse, Gourdon, tourrettes sur Loup, gorges and St Jeannet. Has anyone taken a private tour including these cities? What did you like best?

Michel of Revelation Tours gets my vote! Highly recommend.

He was, by far, our best guide & we hired 5 during our Med. cruise last year. He communicated quickly via email, helped me plan our itinerary, had great suggestions, was reliable, informative & had lots of patience for our group of 6. We docked in Cannes, went to Nice, then onto St.Paul de Vince.

We too are from Arkansas and there will be 6 of us on the Celebrity Summit in September out of Barcelona. Our first stop is Cannes and we are trying to get a good private tour. Per your statement you used Dream Tours twice which obviously means you were satisfied. Any tips or things you did differently or learned from your first time with them? Appreciate any info you have.
