Now that beats all manner of blackwater piping, lagged hot water pipes, mooring lines coiled on bright green spools

freezer lockers, grunge disposal rooms, crew-only companionways

- and everything else ever shown on this somewhat mundane thread!

The Star Princess on a recent Mexican Riviera cruise had such evening entertainment also by a pair of crew members. All I can say is that young love is so interesting to watch if it doesn't involve any family members!

But back to behind the scenes....

Here is the crews balcony on Mariner of the Seas :D:

I wonder what the color of the neck scarf signifies? Enquiring minds want to know!:p

Enquiring minds want to know! ===> I agree!

Well, well! I never noticed that.

Now I notice scarfs in red gold/yellow and blue

and maybe even a black one?

I'm thinking you're right, in that it must signify something.

Does anyone know??

Just found this thread.

On RCI they signify levels of experience. I am having a brain fart and can't recall which is which ... one signifies less than a year on ship one is a supervisor and the third well I just plain forget.

Great thread.

Okay, it's time for a few more behind-the-scenes photos.

Someone must have taken a few since December last year?

.

Haven't been on a cruise yet, but if I get some behind the scenes photos after my Mediterranean cruise in October, I will post them. Very interesting submissions so far.

This is a great photo idea. PLEASE keep the images coming.

I'll add some in Nov 2010 from the Crown Princess. ===> Please do!

I'm happy to see this thread of 'mine' has come this far! :)

It's not always easy to get pics behind the scenes: there aren't too many doors left open accidentally.

Perhaps the best way might be to chat-up an Officer, and be frank and forthright about what you're seeking.

But. How and where to chat up Officers?

BowDeck-37.jpg

When we had Cabin 6207 right up front on Carnival Victory

it was so easy to access those small bow decks right outside our door.

I soon discovered that several crew, and a few Officers, would spend some time out there

away from the madding crowd, taking a smoke very often.

Hey.. good quiet place to strike up a private conversation about this and that, huh? ;)

Chances are you'll never get to do the engine room

but I'm sure there are other less-sensitive areas, such as the forward and aft rope-handling areas

that get busy when docking(particularly) and un-docking.

We've had a few pics of those areas, pics taken peeking thru open doors

but I'd love to get in there with my Sigma 10-20, given someone's okay

even if they'd most likely make you wear a hard hat(be ready for that..)

..but I'm fairly sure they don't like us taking pictures at Security points like these...

Welcome-41.jpg

I used the Sigma 10-20, shooting 'blind' from right where the cam. hangs around my neck

while I was waiting for someone.. :)
