levon10 Posted April 25, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2009 Will be cruising on the Adventure of the Seas this August and was wondering if you can connect to the internet from your cabin ?
wrp96 Posted April 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2009 Only if you happen to be extremely close to one of the hotspots and that hotspot has a strong signal.
firefly333 Posted April 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2009 You probably can, the wireless should reach to your cabin. Of course Im sure you are aware there is a small set up fee, plus the internet fee per minute. I think access is better in some cabins than others, whomever is closer to the internet cafe on board. I hear the buffet works good up there too.

With all the steel on a ship a hotspot signal doesn´t travel well and your cabin need to be right next to it. When did RCI start to charge a setup fee? As far as I know the per minute rate is all you pay.
firefly333 Posted April 25, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2009 AOS doesn't have internet throughout the ship, only in hotspots. Yes, I understood your post above mine. I thought some cabins would get it though. If they were near the internet cafe or wherever the signal comes from.

alexkrn46 Posted April 25, 2009 #8 Share Posted April 25, 2009 My kids had a Promenade room near customer service and able to get a signal ( of course with a fee attached).
mistergq Posted April 25, 2009 #9 Share Posted April 25, 2009 imho, when the ships go into dry dock, they should install the more antennas so that you can get wifi in the cabins.
steveandjen Posted April 27, 2009 #10 Share Posted April 27, 2009 Most hotspots are not the issue but the laptop themselves. Most of the time you can "see" a hot spot, but I am sure most of you wonder, "Why can't I connect?" The wireless cards in laptops are very low power. The reason they are low power is to conserve battery power. Questions?
nomarfan5 Posted April 28, 2009 #11 Share Posted April 28, 2009 Hot spots are in Viking Crown, Schooner Bar, Royal Promenade, Solarium and Conference Center. I was disappointed to not have wireless in the cabin as when I was on the Freedom, I liked to sit on my balcony while checking e-mail. I ended up going to the Viking Crown one time and the other times down in the conference center as it was quiet. FYI - $28 for one hour, $38 for 90 minutes and $55 for 150 minutes.
