karen327 Posted May 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2009 I posted this question on the Hawaii thread and didn't get a response. On the POA, do they have an area similar to the great outdoors on the Pearl? Is there anywhere else on the ship where the lights are more dim at night? Do they ever dim the lights on deck so people can stargaze? my husband loves astronomy and would like to star gaze while between the islands. Also, where would you recommend on the islands that we stay overnight at to stargaze? Thanks to anyone who can help answer these questions. Rare ohioNCLcruiser Posted May 4, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2009 When are you sailing? During Hawaii Seabird season all upper deck lights must be turned off. Also deck 13 fwd right above the bridge gets really dark at night. no lights on near the bridge at night!

Thanks James, that is great news, my husband will be happy to hear this, he had been looking for a ship that is darker, we were told by staff that they can't dim any lights on the NCL Pearl. We plan to go to Hawaii sometime in 2010. When is Seabird season? Is it true that the skies are clearest in the summer? When would you recommend going? My husband likes to escape the Ohio winters with vacations in the south, but we don't want to freeze in the higher elevations. Heard that there is good star gazing at haleakala national park, have you heard anything about that? Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I will be looking forward to my first trip to Hawaii and my third cruise. March 09 Norwegian Pearl to western caribbean scheduled for November 09 Norwegian Pearl to eastern caribbean
