Another L.O.S review

Recommended Posts

This was my Fiancé’s first cruise and my second. I have only cruised once and that was for H.S. graduation on the Carnival Fantasy in 93.

We left Friday morning and stayed with my best friends in Ft. Lauderdale. We hung around the pool on Fri. & Sat. and had a great time. We did not get to the port till 2:30 or 3:00. I think most were already on board because we walked right in and did not have to wait in any lines.

We were told that no table was assigned to us and we would have to go to the main dinning room for assignment. As you can tell I was pretty pissed in the pic. After waiting for 15min I started to wonder around to find a drink. We got back to the MD and waiting another 15min till they called us up. I know it was not that much of a wait but the last thing you want to do is to sit in line when you want to be up at the pool drinking!

Ok now that we had our table it was time to Party! We got up to the pool and grabbed a quick drink before the drill.

We hurried to check our room and get our bags. I was like a kid in a candy store after opening the luggage to find all rum runners in place!

After the drill we hit the pool deck to watch the sail away.

I got a great pic of the surf rider with Miami in the background.

After an hour or so of pics and drink we headed to the WJ for a snack since we had late seating for dinner. Our pizza and such was very tasty. At this point we hit the room to get ready for the night.

We somehow missed the opening show but dinner was good and the Parade was very nice. After the Parade we made a donation at the Casino and went up to the Olive or Twist for a relaxing drink to call it a night.

Love reading your review... maybe I can see if you are in some of our pictures since I know what you look like now. HA

You are doing a wonderful job with your pictures and stories and finding the RumRunners in the suitcase.. yes, that is a thrilling sight! :D

Sunday: Day at sea

I woke up at 5:30 like some excited child on Christmas morning. After dragging Toni out of the bed we went up to take some sunrise pics.

079.jpg.4d2b893a4b0890d2c4a1499a47cc93f0.jpg

We ate breakfast in the WJ and discussed our plans for the day. After breakfast we explored the ship for more pics.

084.jpg.f53dbef3434befb9232f4d57e4136033.jpg

We spend the day at the pool relaxing. We were a bit dissapointed in the fact that finding two chairs together in the sun was all but futile but we made the best of it. In what would be a tradition for us on most days we checked out the Jamaican band at the main pool, they are great!

087.jpg.958d2fefe2242808e23cc8b701bdb1ec.jpg

Both of us were really excited to catch the first Ice show at 5:00. The show was absolutely fantastic!

094.jpg.3e1f1a6d7d8621bd98005f5c4fc51dab.jpg

After the Ice show we got ready for our formal night and caught the early showing of “Some where in Time”. The show was a bit weird but we were both very impressed with the main female singer who had an amazing voice.

We got out of the show and it was time for the Captains reception party with free Champaign. I love anything for free especially booze so this was great to me.

[size=3102.jpg.477c17de5bf2e48200066ecdfe27458e.jpg [/size]

After a great dinner we grabbed a quick drink in the room before heading down to the Schooner bar for the Matt Yee show.

Matt has to have best lounge show I have ever seen. I have never seen so many people singing together and having such a great time with a lounge act. We ending up catching a lot of his shows and always had a great time. I hope RCCL books him more because he is a great entertainer.:D:D

We hit the sack around 12:30 tired from being up since 5:30 in anticipation of our next day in Labadee.

Monday - Labadee Haiti

We both had a great nights sleep and woke relaxed and ready for the beach. On a side note the bed and beddings were superb and made for great sleeping.

In what turned out to be our morning ritual we made for the pool deck first thing to see the sights. Both of us were really impressed with the beauty of the sea and mountains of Haiti.

110.jpg.a40d86c4036b9ac1a9c2108aac28369e.jpg

We got off on one of the first boats eager for some relaxation on the beach. We made our way to the zip line beach and got a lounger under some nice little trees. The guys came around with there Labadoozies witch really hit the spot!

We walked around and explored a little before lunch.

128.jpg.f0dca458448570ab1028093a6cf55ac0.jpg

The view from the old bell tower was great.

131.jpg.f3bef0ad97019696e3a7218b9c23bb48.jpg

I have read conflicting options about the free bbq lunch but we both loved it. The jerk chicken was very moist and delicious and as good as any we had ever had.

We decided to try our negotiation skills in the market and got some nice wood heads and a toy for the baby. We bought from one of the first guys outside since my temper is bad and I knew I would knock someone out for getting in my face for a sale.

We decided to head back to the ship around 1:30 and enjoyed some quite time at the pool.

137.jpg.93024225753eb160708222eb6b2b0ae7.jpg

After the pool we took a nap, got dressed for our dinner at Portofino’s. We both loved the meal and agreed it was one of the best deals of our lives at only $20 per person. We both had the fillet which could be cut with a fork and had a wonderful wine sauce.

142.jpg.c8b67d8b02baae00ba3f104a03e503c8.jpg

After dinner we show the headliner show “Mosaic” These guys had some good singers but the guys making the instrument sounds with there voices is what made the show. After dinner we went to the Promenade for the dance party. We stayed all of 5min. due to the fact that both of our stomachs were on the edge of explosion from over eating at Portofino’s. We headed to the room to call it an early night.

If you're talking about the May 2-9th then we were on the same sailing. We loved listening to Matt Yee as well. Did you eat in Chops? I thought that the filet in Portofino was better than the one in Chops. Makes me hungry just thinking about it!

The pool deck was our favorite place to sit...but I agree it was really hard to find lounge chairs. We were with a group of 18 so it was impossible for us. We ususally just found one or two and then "appropriated" the ones around us that were unattened for more than an hour.

Did you see the 70's Dance party on the Promenade? What did Toni think of Mike and his mankini? We had a perfect view of the promenade bridge from our deck 8 promenade stateroom....later in the week we went rock wall climbing and our 8 year old daughter recognized Mike and called him Mr. Mankini. He was a good sport about it.

Did you go to Quest? That was so much fun. James was so funny with that huge bra.

I can't wait to hear more about your impressions of the week. Great review so far.

No we were on the same cruise as Janet April 18th - 25th.

We did not eat at Chops but wish we had. We tried to go on Fri. but they told us a wedding had booked to whole place.:(

We did not see the 70's dance party since we ate ourselfs to a frenzy in Portafinos and had to go back to the room and crash like some fat pigs.

We whent to the Quest for 10min but decided to go see another Matt Yee show instead.:p

Tuesday - Montego Bay Jamaica ------------ YEAH MON!

We woke and did our routine of pool deck then WJ for breakfast. As usually every thing was good and we always had a waiter ready to get us coffee and juice. We went back up to the pool deck for a long time while to boat docked. Once again the water and mountains here were beautifully.

150.jpg.45484d96700db80466d50f6b89c11a36.jpg

We decided to take the ship recommended shuttle for $15ea (round trip) that made 5 stops. The first stop was at a scary looking flee market and only one couple got off. The next stop was at a better looking shopping place were every one but use got off. We told the cabbie to take us to the beach. Doc. Caves was the beach on the rout but our cabbie said that Aqua Sol was just as nice and not nearly as crowded. We agreed and spend the next three or so hours having a wonderful time on a gorgeous beach with only a handful of other people there.

161.jpg.3a62eecb3ca5963382aa08462a734c53.jpg

This was the view from our spot on the beach.

168.jpg.a8210e1cc2debda80e52f9ed3b363877.jpg

Toni and one of the “Life guards”. I think all these Life guards are there to sell ganja. He was very nice and only asked once and no one else bothered us.

162.jpg.40f105ccc32df78ff9c2655b56ff1d1b.jpg

Our waiter at Aqua Sol was very polite and came up the long walk up the beach every time with all the drinks on his head. The Red Strips were $3.00 each and ice cold. After I got my second beer I decided to go change into my trunks. The rest rooms are near the restaurant and gift shop. We got some t shirts and more wood heads and were able to haggle our prices down with the two nice ladies working there.

We had a nice swim and jumped on the water Trampoline. I loved jumping of into the water but Toni was too scared to.

I drank another beer and relaxed while we noticed the clouds rolling in. We walked over to the rocks for some pics with the ship.

174.jpg.c74c199b5cea74dc96900bdc00d75f1d.jpg

178.jpg.74fb50e7fbbce7f55a105dceaea4c736.jpg

We decided to catch the shuttle to Margaretville. They had a ton of police out front for protection.

184.jpg.350479986c019ea9942979e349113dbc.jpg

The Margaritas and Nacho’s were awful and expensive. We sat around for a while and watched the downpour. My recommendations are to stop here, go down the slide a few times and leave. That thing was AWSOME!!!!!!

We got back to the ship and relaxed a while in the hot tub awwwwwwwww. After our quick afternoon nap and WJ snack we got dressed and went up top to watch the sail away.

189.jpg.34e0933728f69903b640a19cee261b1a.jpg

We caught the pre dinner show which was the comedian I think. He was very funny and had every one in stitches. After dinner we took in some of the Matt Yee show, made another donation to the Casino and called it a night.

On another side note I played roulette and we had 00 hit twice in 5 spins.:confused::confused: I don’t know the odds of this happening but it is highly unlikely. I started to complain and got the other guy at the table all rowed up as well. We all had a good laugh afterwards.

Wednesday – Grand Cayman

After eating we went up for the docking and some great pics.

194.jpg.0376353b98cd18abe688185e10d05ee7.jpg

We got off the ship and found the guy holding the Native Way sign for our Rays and snorkel tour. The stingrays and nearby snorkeling were a great experience. The water was as clear as a swimming pool.

206.jpg.1523eb62b1cfe2454afd63757ce77483.jpg

Here is Toni acting like a little girl as the Native Way guys put a ray on her back.

209.jpg.e6ea73b045c5c06871a96a5e092d51be.jpg

We all feed, kissed and held the rays. I could not believe how many there were. After the rays we snorkeled on a great reef for a bit and saw some wonderful fish and coral. After the reef we found a spot with star fish all over the place.

221.jpg.046401ec6a14fffbb5f67743db5dd69b.jpg

I caught this one in about 15ft of water.

We headed back and saw a beautiful sea turtle on our way back in.

We LOVED this tour and for $40pp it was a great deal. We did some shopping near the port and found a nice Couch purse for my mom for $55.

234.jpg.485aac9c73c15955759fc4a35081643f.jpg

Here Toni is with “Big Black Dick” in the shopping area. He was some Pirate back in the day with a really funny name. LoL:p

After our great day in Grand Cayman we got back in board and hit up the WJ for our afternoon snack.

239.jpg.8713e6cfa3b7e4b9778abcd41c61c509.jpg

I got this great shot of the Pirates ship.

242.jpg.670e36334bee152ebbd31c4c857fa681.jpg

The Pirates Parade was also nice.

260.jpg.ba07d5be297fc8447cb3e84ca4c1b505.jpg

After the parade we got ready for our second formal night dinner.

265.jpg.e08955ad5e1e392335e3bd090d2df5c5.jpg

Here we are in the back with our table mates. I had shrimp, 2 lobster tails and Prime Rib - ummyy!

We saw the "In the Air" show witch was great. I love seeing them flying all over the stage. We actually stayed up late and made it to Club 20 up on the Solarium. The DJ was spinning some great house music (much to my delight) and we had a great time with our table mates.

Thursday – Cozumel MX.

After our late night we woke at 9:00 and hurried up to the pool deck just in time to see the ship docking. We hit up the Jammer for another delicious breakfast then back to the room to prepare for our day at Nochi Cocoon.

The port of Cozumel

273.jpg.4495c6133b5c7498d3c3fceecd2b8de3.jpg

This is a shot of the Carnival Pride.

After our quick exit from the ship we looked around at the great shops at the port then got a cab to Nochi. This place was simple great. As soon as we walked in I got a banana margarita and a shot of tequila to start things off right. :p:p We were shown our papa and relaxed for a few while our waiter brought us more drinks. We swam in the pool and sit in the hot (not very) tub and drank another frozen drink. Around 11:00 we got some nachos that were the best I have ever had. The chips, guac and salsa were all fresh made and absolutely perfect. After another round of drinks and swimming we were ready for lunch. I got the grilled grouper and Toni had the enchiladas. We were both very pleased with our meals. The food along was worth the $50pp it was so good. After lunch we swam in the ocean and relaxed on a floating mat with a few more drinks. Toni wanted a little time to shop at the port so I got a Corona to go and we had to leave this wonderful place.:(
