GeriatricNurse Posted May 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2009 Is it mandatory that one has to leave their checked luggage with the dock workers at the pier before embarkation or may one take their checked luggage along with their carry-on luggage to check-in then boarding? YXU AC*SE Posted May 18, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2009 Is it mandatory that one has to leave their checked luggage with the dock workers at the pier before embarkation or may one take their checked luggage along with their carry-on luggage to check-in then boarding? Not mandatory, but depending on shoreside set up, your luggage must be able to fit through x-ray machine either in the port facility and/or at the top of the gangway as you embark. Not all x-ray scanners will be able to accept a standard sized piece of luggage. Scott.
sail7seas Posted May 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2009 If it fits through the typical airport style scanner, you can lug it with you. It must be scanned and you must be able to handle it yourself without becoming an impediment to other guests.
Nancyquilts Posted May 18, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2009 And if you board early, sometimes the cabins aren't ready, and you would have to schlep all your luggage around until you could get into your cabin.
