happysails2U Posted December 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2004 I've seen some reference to the Skipper's Club for the Cat 11 on the Sensation. As we will be on that in a few days, I'd like to know what is is, and what it offers. Happy
neverenufcruising Posted December 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 10, 2004 Basically it gives those who have suites preferential boarding. You'll go into a separate area away from the masses to go through embarkation. Also if the ship hasn't been cleared for boarding, you'll be the first group on when it is cleared. CoachTerry14 Posted December 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2004 I have used the Skippers Club in 4 different ports (New Orleans, Port Canaveral, Tampa, & Miami) and eight different cruises (Not aware of it on my first Carnival cruise in 1993). It is not priority boarding, but priority check-in. At some ports it is a nice room and in others it was just a table off to the side.
CEWayfarer Posted December 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2004 If you are travelling WITH people who are in a suite (they're cat 11, we're 8H (I think)), do we get to check in with them, or do they check in alone and we check in with the rest of the riff-raff? serene56 Posted December 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted December 10, 2004 If you are travelling WITH people who are in a suite (they're cat 11, we're 8H (I think)), do we get to check in with them, or do they check in alone and we check in with the rest of the riff-raff? it depends - some people are allowed to take their family members with them ex- parents book a suite but the kids are inside across the hall. Others have been denied. My parents got priorty boarding but only my mom and dad could get on..we had to wait with the riff raff.
PINEVIEW01 Posted December 10, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 10, 2004 Basically it gives those who have suites preferential boarding. You'll go into a separate area away from the masses to go through embarkation. Also if the ship hasn't been cleared for boarding, you'll be the first group on when it is cleared. This is how it worked for us twice at Tampa. The first time we got preferential check in, and where walked streight over to board, past the lines. The second time the ship was late loading and we were the first to be boarded and we waited in a seperate area. In Miami a family had a cat 12 and and inside. The inside was not allowed to check in with them. This was a cabin for their children. The whole family went into regular check in. In Tampa, we went through, the rest had to regular check-in. I've never seen anyone allowed to take a non Skipper through check in with them. Can't say for other ports.

mr jimmy Posted December 11, 2004 #8 Share Posted December 11, 2004 On our first cruise out of New Orleans, there was no Skippers Club there, but we were given bag tags that prompted someone to take us straight to the check in desk ahead of others (we were booked in a Cat 12 on the Inspiration). After check in, we were escorted by a CCL rep. straight up from the check in counter to our room. On our second cruise out of New Orleans, we had the Skippers Club, which put us at the head of the line for check in, but after that, we went to the yellow chairs. Go figure. jakieemma Posted December 11, 2004 #9 Share Posted December 11, 2004 They tried to make us wait to board on my last cruise (Victory). All my other cruises have been in Cat 11's and we were escorted from the check in room directly to our cabin. When they told me I had to wait to board I grabbed a Carnival rep (a manager or supervisor) and told them that the staff told me I had to wait to board. The rep. said they should not have told me that and walked us upstairs and directed us to the ship. I do not care if we get escorted to our cabin, but boarding with priority is supposed to be what the Skipper's club is about. Sometimes you need to speak up and talk to the right people. The squeeky wheel gets the oil. Good luck !!! 36 days till Voyager 76 days till Glory
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted December 11, 2004 #10 Share Posted December 11, 2004 We experienced NO DIFFERENCE in Ft. Lauderdale over Thanksgiving on the Legend - we asked CCL people at 3 different points during the process.... we went with the masses, and boarded with group 1 - at least we had a great cabin! That is the only SURE perk of having a suite... LOL I had heard Ft. Lauderdale was a cluster---- Tom
tricktsm Posted December 11, 2004 #11 Share Posted December 11, 2004 We had a cat.11 in galveston..our daughter (11yr old) and her godmother an ocean view..they were allowed to check in with us in the skipper's club. We were moved to a location were we were supposed to get priority boarding....however someone forgot us and we had to wait ..but after someone else in the skipper's club complained..we were allowed to board. So with us..had someone not forgotten us..we would have had priority boarding..and we also and a sepreate check in room.
