gram4haley Posted June 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2009 I was recently in Bermuda and enjoyed using their bus system. The system was easy to use. The routes were clear to understand. If you told the bus driver where you wanted to go, he would announce that stop for you. You never waited more than 30 minutes for your bus (usually only 10 to 15 minutes) and more than likely another bus route could be used to get where you wanted to go. Is Oahu's bus system similar, better or worse than Bermuda?
cruzn single Posted June 3, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2009 We have been to Oahu 9 times (#10 coming up in January), and we have NEVER rented a car. http://www.TheBus.org is the website for The Bus--one of the best systems in the country as far as we are concerned. Bus system is highly utilized--many use it as their only means of transportation--going to and from work, shopping, etc. Buses are clean, and various routes cover the entire island. Buses serving the Waikiki area are frequent, other parts of the island, about once an hour. We have gone everywhere on The Bus. Fare is $2.00/$1.00 for Seniors with Medicare card. gram4haley Posted June 4, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted June 4, 2009 Can anyone compare TheBus to Bermuda's bus system?
papergypsy Posted June 4, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 4, 2009 Sorry, no comparison here - but just want to chime in that I live in Honolulu for 2 21/2 years without a car and used The Bus exclusively. It is one of the best public transportation systems I have ever used.

We've been to Bermuda and Oahu twice, used the buses extensively on Bermuda and thought we were going to use them on Oahu as well, but ended up renting a car. Before deciding to rent a car on Oahu I did quite a bit of research on various routes on The Bus and was quite impressed with both the website and the service provided by The Bus. Thanks for sharing your experience with using it.:)
