Most people go up on deck, for a full panoramic view,it was early when we saw it,and so we watched and took pictures from the horizon court,as we were finishing breakfast,at least we were in a warm place:)),have a great trip,we leave next saturday, dont forget your binoculars;)

I give my recommendation to viewing the glaciers and scenery from the promenade deck. Up on the lido deck and above, where most people choose to watch from, can get increadibly crowded. We found that most seemed to have forgotten about the promenade deck. It was never crowded, and my husband and I were always able to easily get a spot right along the railing to watch from without looking over the heads of other passengers also trying to get a glimpse. Also, there are a decent number of deck lounging chairs to sit back, relax, and watch the scenery from . Click my pictures below to see views from the promenade deck.

Poppy- Just off the Sea Princess on Tuesday. If you have a balcony, that would be ideal. The balconies on the Sea Princess somewhat sheltered, so even though it was a little cool and west outside, we were fine in our sweats and coats. Otherwise, I have to agree with the poster who recommended the Promenade deck. Have a great cruise!

Laur/1005, thinks so much for those wonderful pictures. When did you leave to go on the cruise that you took those pictures?

We sailed on the Northbound Voyage of the Glaciers from 5/23 - 5/30 on the Diamond Princess, just a short month ago. I wish we were still there! It was wonderful.

We are going on the Sea Princess to Alaska in a few weeks time. Where is the best location on the ship to view the glaciers? Any secret hide-aways?
The Sea Princess has a public deck area at the aft of Aloha deck that's half-covered, half-uncovered. Because you're at the back of the ship, you're more protected from the wind and there's more room for passengers to stand or even lounge while viewing to either side or the back of the ship. It's one of my favorite spots on the ship. This is a photo of the old Regal Princess aft deck but the back of Aloha deck on the Sea Princess is somewhat similar to give you an idea of what it's like.

Be aware that viewing may not be available for the full scheduled hours.

We were on the May 24th Sea Princess, scheduled to cruise Tracy Arm from 6:00 to 10:00. The ship started in early and was back out before 7:00, reportedly due to ice. We had turned on the front of the ship channel a little after 6:00 and heard the naturalist talk about the possibility of turning around. By the time we got on deck, we’d turned around, no blue ice visible, no ice large enough for seals to be on. No announcements were made after the turn around.

We were on the 6/13 trip on the Sea Princess. We actually got all the way into Tracy Arm, but it was quite foggy in the beginning and rained almost the whole time. Also be aware that they are limiting the outside announcements (per the naturalist on our cruise, a new deal starting this year) and the volume is pretty low.

Thanks for the advice. This is the great thing about this website is to get best ideas and suggestions from people who have been :)

So would you suggest that I need to get up early to view the glaciers especially if there are announcements?

We have new waterproof/windproof jackets for trip! So I think a visit to HC first to grap a cup of tea and then outside to brave the elements. It seems to be colder in Alaska than it is here in Scotland and that is saying something.

Unfortunately we don't have a balcony this time round. We are outside unobstructed.
