First, never said we were from California. Only connection for us is we were stationed at the Defense Language Institute in Montery but that was over 25 years ago.

 

Second, it was clearly said that we have not formed an opinion on this subject. We are against the use of recreational drugs.

 

Third, the only reason the thread was initiated was because the first thread disappeared. I believe that Walt did the right thing given the circumstances. Problem is we saw only the first post to the thread and didn't know about the circumstances. We are not on CruiseCritic 24/7 and certainly not on all of the boards.

Whoever started the original post had to have been 'high' because only a 'dope' would ask such a stupid question.

While your restarting this posting may have been just because you're curious, the simple fact is that if you take marijuana (or attempt to take) on board a ship you may very well miss your cruise and have to spend time talking to lawyers, judges and, in some states or countries, correctional officers.

 

As one who lives in a state with a medical marijuana card program, I can tell you that one of the major problems has been the recreational smoker who, upon arrest, claims some medical situation and applies for a card as a defense. We've also had at least one doctor who's no longer practicing because he was "liberal" with his sign-offs on applications. These situations have significantly undermined the public opinion regarding medical us of marijuana.

 

But back to your original questions -- don't risk it. It's simply not worth the time, trouble and considerable expense. And "I don't agree with your drug laws!" is not a defense in any state or country.
