Chocolate buffet

They did last year on the Star...but this year we didn't go, so I am not sure.

Sailed the Star to Alaska end of May, and it was in the buffett area. Apparently, so that they had more of a sitting area. Don't know how true that was.

When I first saw the choc. buffet set up in the Garden Cafe' date=' I did inquire why it was no longer in the main DR (this was either Pearl or Gem).

From what I understood, it was done for health code reasons.

But some are reporting recent choc. buffets from the Sun and Majesty in the DR.[/quote']

It was also in Windows on the Spirit in January.

You guys.. LOL..we have got to cruise together some day.. Trust me.. if they had a "salty" buffet one night I would make sure I was at the front of that line. I will eat chocolate if it is with something. ie. chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered pecans, peanuts, etc etc...but it is the strawberry or the nuts I want and just accept the chocolate is with it. LOL.

Yum! How about really salty pretzels dipped in chocolate?!! :D

Just off the Pearl and their Chocolate Buffet was in the Cafe Garden Buffet. It was a big let down quality wise and also the visual presentation was so far below other NCL cruises. There were no long lines and the notice for it was buried in the Freestyle Daily. I recall one ice sculpture and maybe two chocolate sculptures. Way below what they used to do.

Here's a video of the Chocolate Buffet on the Majesty.

I'm not a chocoholic but if I have chocolate it has to be GOOD chocolate. None of what I tasted was outstanding and didn't I bother to go to it on subsequent cruises. It seems to be more for show than anything. Thought I would settle for a glass of champagne but $7.50 for a flute was rather pricey for plain old champagne.

Mmmmmm Good Chocolate. I have been craving some whitmer Chocolate from belgium like you wouldnt believe.

I went to the buffet once to eat, the other times I went to people watch. Which I found waaaaay more enjoying. (2nd time I went the buffet was on the deck, as we were docked in bermuda).

The concierge will arrange for all his/her suite pax to meet at a designated spot before the choco buffet opens. You're then escorted into the area and IIRC we had a good 15 minutes to take pix, get goodies, etc before the main doors were opened for business.

The day of the buffet, if you don't get a letter in your suite from your concierge about arrangements, call him/her and find out where to meet for pre-entry.

Well that's interesting..We just came off the Jewel on the 9th of July. No letter and no information from Carlos about getting in early. I saw the info on the buffet in the Freestyle daily and we went. I wish I had asked either Carlos or our butler Madel to get me in early to take pics. Having said that, I was fairly close to the front of the line. Got in and started taking pictures. Will post after I've gone through them.

it was a mad house, but plenty of goodies to be had by all. I would say that it really wasn't all that spectacular, but the chocolate statues and ice sculptures etc really stood out. and people were kind enough to move out of the way so that I could take my pictures.

but I can say this.. The nice choco goodies that were provided in our cabin on several occasions where better than many at the buffet.. so as a Suite Passenger I did get my fill of sweets.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I found the lines moved rather quickly. The staff controlled the lines by allowing groups to head to the buffet at one time. The staff had paper plates for those who wanted to take their leftover chocolate back to their rooms. The buffet was so beautiful with ice and chocolate sculptures and worth seeing. It was fun to be part of the experience even if it was crowded.

I am definetly looking forward to the chocolate buffets and friends of mine who've been on this cruise have said the chocolate is absolutely amazing.
