carnival has a new side bet on blackjack Its a $1 to $25 side bet.

Your first 2 cards must equal 20 and you get 4 to 1---------------A&9 or k&Q

2 suited cards making 20 you get 9 to 1------------------A of Club & 9 of club

2 suited alike cards making 20 you get 19 to 1------------K of clubs & K of clubs

and if you get 2 queen of hearts you get 125 to 1

 

I got 2 queen of hearts with $5 and won $ 625.

Its still a bad bet though.

The average of any two cards in the deck is 13, so it's not really surprising when you think about it.

 

I seem to remember on the Pride all the BJ games had a continuous shuffler, so there is no point in even trying to count down the deck or count the aces, faces and 9's.

 

However, it proves yet again, if your in the right place at the right time the odds don't matter.

An easy rule of thumb at a casino: the more the house promotes a "new" bet, the better the odds are for the house.

They keep adding variations and side bets to make it harder for "standard strategies" to work. Just work out the odds and you will know what to do.

Or any time you hear the word "side bet" it is not a good bet... side = house in ALL cases. Can anyone tell me a side bet that has odds in the players favor or ever better odds then the origional game?
