foster3453 Posted July 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2009 The only other time I cruised I went to Total wine and bought several bottles and brought on board with me....I haven't been in a couple of years, is this still allowed? Good idea?
mrrobby Posted July 23, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2009 You better go and pick up a few bottles, because everyone is doing it.:)

Toto2Kansas Posted July 23, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2009 Are they very strick about the $10 cork fee? Actually, that has changed since your last cruise. It is now $15 corkage fee if you bring your wine to the diningroom.
Pia1913 Posted July 23, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2009 Are they very strick about the $10 cork fee? There is no corkage fee if you imbibe in your own cabin.
foster3453 Posted July 23, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted July 23, 2009 There is no corkage fee if you imbibe in your own cabin. That's the plan....Last time we found a server that never charged us the fee and at the end of the week I gave her a large tip.

From what has been reported recently, this used to happen quite often, but is doesn't happen as often as it used to with this economy. You may get lucky and not have to pay the corkage fee in the diningroom, but I would plan on them charging for it, just in case. ;) Good Luck! paul929207 Posted July 23, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 23, 2009 I don't think you can count on a server not charging the corkage fee. Some will, and some won't.
rcacace Posted July 23, 2009 #9 Share Posted July 23, 2009 You can always bring a glass of wine to the table from your cabin & not be charged anything.

RickT Posted July 23, 2009 #11 Share Posted July 23, 2009 We always do it. We generally bring 2 bottles of wine per person and pick up another bottle or two in one of the ports if we need it. We don't bother bringing any of these bottles to dinner, we just like to have a drink while getting dressed for dinner.
Toto2Kansas Posted July 23, 2009 #12 Share Posted July 23, 2009 Put it in a can. I was thinking more like borrow a bar waiters tray, fill it up with glasses of wine and carry that into the diningroom. ;)
mollywest Posted July 23, 2009 #13 Share Posted July 23, 2009 Want to purchase wine for our stateroom at airport en route. Our flight isn't direct, so hope to purchase whilst in Paris, as we're on the ground for 2 hours. Anyone else done this?

sultan_sfo Posted July 23, 2009 #16 Share Posted July 23, 2009 If they deliver the wine directly to the airline gate then no problem. We have done this. But if one has to carry it on one-self, then I don't know. Now many airports have a so-called duty free shop at the destination airport. The best answers you will get is if you post this in the Cruise Air Forum of Cruise Critic. ... so hope to purchase whilst in Paris, as we're on the ground for 2 hours. Anyone else done this?
