It really depends what you are looking for. Whether you are just looking for a clean/comfortable bed for the night or a top class hotel in a good location? wotif.com is good for last minute hotel bookings. Aussie Gal Posted August 1, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2009 We spent a great four nights in Brisbane last year and stayed at "The Treasury" which is part of the Casino but in a separate building. We received a good deal from the hotel which included breakfast. It is in a wonderful position handy to everything and it does have a lovely restaurant. Jennie Hi Jennie, I used to work in that beautiful building. It was originally The Lands Office, in the days when land played a vital role in government. The Lands Office Role of Honour is still in the building. Even when I worked in another building later, we used to go there on the 11th hour of the 11th day of November to remember. A friend just took his wife there for their wedding anniversary and absolutely loved it. BTW Our family personal favourite is the Stamford on the Brisbane River, next to the Royal Botanical Gardens. On Sundays, there are craft markets nearby along the river bank. However, its location on the river is not as close/convenient to the CBD as The Treasury. Aussie Gal Posted August 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2009 Marion, When I originally went to book a hotel last year for our stay, I originally chose the Stamford, but it was the Rugby final weekend and it was either booked out or the prices were astronomical not sure which now! Anyhow we then chose "The Treasury" and we were not disappointed as we do love old buildings. The history of the building is amazing and we were thrilled that we were staying in such a beautiful building. Jennie
