Corfu taxi to beaches?

My wife and I want some beach time the day we're here. Want to do Paleo and Glyfada. Are there enough cabs to make it easy to go from one to another and then back to the ship? Would renting a car be a better option? Thanks for the help.

There were lots of cabs outside the port terminal building so you would have no trouble getting a cab. However, you should be aware that some of the cab drivers were less than scrupulous and quoting ridiculous prices to get to the beaches. As you walk through the terminal building look out for a door inside the building on which are posted the price of cabs to various places on the island. This will give you the price you should be paying and hopefully prevent you from getting ripped off.

We had intended to get a cab to a beach but just didn't think the prices they were quoting was worth it, since we only had a short day in Corfu.

We found it made more sense to simply rent a car in Corfu. There were several rental car dealers who rented cars right at the port terminal building and the cost was less than $50 for the day.

Suggest you hire a driver for 3 hours 40 Euro or less an hour

Great company! Great drivers!

Book in advance tell them what you want to see and what you want to do

Did a BEACH TOUR in early August worth every dollar

As Hank posted, rent a car. Car rentals in Corfu are very reasonable, and getting around the island is very easy. That is certainly what we plan to do next May. (Our visit last September was only 1/2 day, so we spent it exploring Corfu Town.) I plan to go to the Achilleon Palace and also those two beaches.

We actually said that if we'd had a long day there we would have probably rented a car. We had a holiday in Corfu some years ago and drove all over the island. With those sort of prices for car rental that would work out cheaper than getting a taxi.

If you do choose to get a taxi you shouldn't have any problem getting one back (unless you go to a really remote beach) in which case arrange for the driver to come back and pick you up.

Hmmm....decisions, decisions. May just do the car. But if you taxi it to the beach, will we have a problem finding one to get back?

There are many beaches on Corfu and many of the best ones are quite a distance from Corfu Town (we are talking 30 min plus of driving). Taking a taxi for any distance will cost more than renting a car. But, if you do take a taxi it is wise to arrange to have that same taxi return to pick you up at a specific time. Once you leave Corfu Town, taxis are few.
