TuxedoMan Posted August 27, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2009 I need a hotel in San Juan for one night before boarding the cruise ship in November. Any ideas?Travel1 We stayed in the Intercontinental. WOW! what a view and what a Hotel. Right in the beach, we were on an upper floor/beach side. It was being re-furbished and we were in one of the finished rooms. This was in 2007:cool:
shashi883 Posted August 27, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2009 We are staying at the Intercontinental. We are really looking forward to it. We originally booked directly with the hotel but found a cheaper rate with Priceline.com
-Lew- Posted August 27, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2009 I would also recommend the Marriott in the Condado section of San Juan. We were able to get it through Priceline for $95/night +tax. I'd stay there again in a minute. It had a beautiful pool and a very nice beach. There is also a casino on the premises. Lew

Richard Posted August 27, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 27, 2009 I need a hotel in San Juan for one night before boarding the cruise ship in November. Any ideas?Travel1 You can also try the Sheraton Old San Juan which is right across from the pier, that is if Princess uses Pier 4 and not the Pan Amaerican pier. Enjoy the Carribean Princess I am on it from NY to San Juan arriving November 1. Richard

Rare Tak8 Posted August 27, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 27, 2009 Stayed one time at Embassy Suites near airport. Good features but not the cleanest place. Two years ago stayed at the Hampton Inn. Nice hotel and great restaurant about 2 places down from hotel. Awesome food at a good price. Strong drinks.
zacc Posted August 27, 2009 #10 Share Posted August 27, 2009 The best one night stay I've had in San Juan was at the HoJos in Old San Juan. It is a newly renovated old hotel right in the middle of Old San Juan. Fantastic location, reasonable price, very clean, no real amenities, friendly and helpful staff, and in the middle of a number of great dining locations. We walked the area until the wee hours of the night and never felt uncomfortable. We took the king suite and had two double doored archways that opened to overlook a beautiful square. And it was easy to grab a cab to the pier in the AM. Check out their website.
DougandEric Posted August 27, 2009 #11 Share Posted August 27, 2009 We liked the Marriott too. It's right on the bus line into old San Juan and the area has numerous restaurants as well.
skellis Posted August 27, 2009 #12 Share Posted August 27, 2009 If you want luxury and history try El Convento in old San Juan which is a converted convent, within walking distance of the shops and restaraunts in old San Juan.
SCFCRUISER Posted August 28, 2009 #13 Share Posted August 28, 2009 We stayed at the Sheraton at the pier as well as the Condado Plaza. The Condado Plaza was very nice & 10 minutes from the pier. It all depends how much you want to spend.
Cruiseorr Posted August 28, 2009 #14 Share Posted August 28, 2009 We stayed at the Sheraton in Old San Juan, which has a nice location. It was expensive at $266 per person (included transfers), but the splurge seemed worth it since their website boasted either Harbor or City views and it was our wedding anniversary. However, when we checked in to our "deluxe" room, we discovered there was no window at all except for a small utility access window that faced a vent shaft with a fine view of a brick wall about 4 feet away. We asked to be relocated to an outside room with a proper window/view since we thought that for over 500 bucks, we should at least have some kind of view, even if it only looks out at the street. After some persuasion, they did relocate us to a room looking out towards the old city. It was nice, but still not worth the price we paid. They do have a nice bar downstairs. By the way, the rate did not even include a continental breakfast. We would go back to San Juan again in a heartbeat, but I would not go out of my way to stay at the Sheraton again. Aligator6182 Posted August 28, 2009 #15 Share Posted August 28, 2009 Check out the Wyndham condado. We have stayed there a few times and enjoyed it. Great pool, casino, restaurants, and not far from the pier and downtown.

crisp1 Posted August 28, 2009 #17 Share Posted August 28, 2009 Looking for a nice small hotel a block from the beach with a pool, roof top hot tub and a pool table? Try the Coral Princess in Condado- we loved it
TucsonRick Posted August 28, 2009 #18 Share Posted August 28, 2009 We stayed at the Water Club, a very unique, hip, boutique hotel. It has waterfalls in the elevators! It is hard to describe so you best look at their website waterbeachclubhotel dot com. Rick
bplazo Posted August 28, 2009 #19 Share Posted August 28, 2009 We have stayedd at the Milano in Old San Juan which was alright but very noisy and you wont be able to sleep if you have a front room. We have also stayed at the Hamptin Inn and loved it.
Meshee Posted August 28, 2009 #20 Share Posted August 28, 2009 We've stayed at the Coral Princess in Condado during our last 3 cruises. It is a very quaint, clean, boutique style hotel. Rates were reasonable and a close walk to the beach. There's a Walgreen around the corner and lots of restaurants and shopping near by.
Carpsavage Posted August 29, 2009 #21 Share Posted August 29, 2009 We've stayed there 3-4 times - great location in Old Town San Juan. We always fly in the night before the cruise, then walk down to the El Morro - fantastic ancient Fort. El Convento has a restaurant/bar called El Picotio - great tapas!!
