  1. We just got done with a five day visit to Copenhagen and used the CPH card. We really liked it and know we got our money’s worth. It was super easy to use. I do t have any experience with the City Pass. And correct, the HOHO bus is not included with the CPH card. We didn’t miss it though. The public transport is extensive and even takes you to towns like Roskilde and Helsingør, all included.

  2. Has anyone else checked their Oceania account lately?  I'm booked and paid for on the June 24 Oceania Marina out of Copenhagen in a little over a month.  Just made dinner reservations last week on the website and logged in tonight to check something and now it's showing no cruise booked!!??

I'm really hoping this is a website glitch!

  3. Hi,

We will be spending about 5-6 days in Copenhagen pre-cruise and are thinking about getting the 120hr Copenhagen Card.  We will be flying in from France, which I think arrives in Terminal 2 of CPH.  If we get the CPH can we still pick it up at the airport, even if that pickup location is Terminal 3?  Or are those terminals separated?

  4. It was a disappointment. We didn't realize it was under renovation and were there yesterday. It was really difficult to see anything with all of the scaffolding but I totally understand the need for renovation. I guess we will just have to come back! :)

  5. If any of you have a Barclaycard Arrival you can now request a chip and pin card. I think it was made available VERY recently. I noticed a chip on the card image on my account page. You can request it through your online account but I did it over the phone. The agent assured me it was chip and pin not chip and signature. It's been renamed Arrival+.

  6. My group and I are arriving in Rome at about 11am on a Friday and have scheduled a night visit of the Vatican Museums that evening at 7:30. We plan to drop our bags at the hotel and have a little lunch. We want to visit the Basilica and we're not sure how early we should head over. How much time should we leave for Basilica visit and St. Peter's Square before the Museums visit? What all is there to do in that area besides the Basilica, Square, and Museums?

We have two more days after this when we are visiting other parts of Rome, so we'd like to stick to the Vatican area during this time frame. One option I've looked at is Castel Sant'Angelo. But we are open to other kind of cool and unique or out of the ordinary things to do as well.

  7. Last year we took the Tren Italno from Florence to Rome Triburtina Station. While it Triburtina is further from the center of Rome than Termini, it is a smaller less crowded station. We were on our way to start a repositioning cruise and had been in Europe for several weeks, so we each had a large bag and carryon. The extra cab fare was worth the shorter walk and lack of crowds.

John, I'm not seeing a place on the Italo Treno website to choose your seats. We are four sitting together and would like to get the seats with the tables between them. Do you remember how that worked?

  8. Has anyone here experienced one of the following guided tours at St. Mark's in Venice?

-- St. Mark's Cathedral and It's Treasures (or)

-- St. Mark's Museum and Cathedral from Above

Both of the above tours are done by Veneto Inside and cost about the same. Plus, they both allow for skip-the-line entrance into the cathedral itself. I'd like to do the free tour at 11, but our Doge's Palace Tour timing prevents that.

I'd love feedback about the above two tours. I've read the descriptions and the Treasures tour focuses on The Golden Pall, Baptistery, and Zen Chapel and the Museum tour focuses on Mosaics and Tapestries.

Thoughts? Feedback? Thanks in advance! :)

  9. We are thinking about trying Italo Treno for transportation from Florence to Rome. We are staying at Albergo Cesari near the Pantheon and will be arriving around 9-10 am. None of us speak Italian.

I am wondering about the best way to get from the station to our hotel. We will have one carryon suitcase and backpack apiece.

Or, would it be wiser to go with Trenitalia into Termini?

  10. Good points. We've all done the Europe travel and overnight flight before. It is tough so that's why I left our first day kind of open. There's nothing there that we have to see. I left that for day two.

That's a good point about the HOHO bus the first day. Usually I'm not a fan of those but it might be a good way to both rest and see the sights.

  11. I would love some feedback on our planned pre-cruise itinerary for Barcelona this summer. I have researched the heck out of things to develop this schedule, but I know many of you have great experience and might see an issue that I am not. Also, if there's anything you might add I'm more than happy to take suggestions.

    Day 1

-- Land @ 8:30, take bus to Plaza Catalunya and walk to hotel

-- Spend time on Las Ramblas, maybe go to Guell Palace and Boqueria Market

-- 4:30 Runner Bean Old Town tour

    Day 2

-- 9:00 Casa Batllo & Passeig de Gracia (and Casa Mila/La Padrera if time)

    -- 2:00 Sagrada Familia

-- 4/5:00 Parc Guell (will take taxi)

    Day 3

    -- 9:00 Picasso Museum

-- 11:00 Basilica de Santa Maria

    -- 2:00 embark on cruise ship :)

  12. Question: My Delta American Express is offering chip starting May 1. I'm assuming its chip and signature. Will the Amex still be accepted at fewer emv locations because of its different charges for the proprietors or will that not matter with emv?

  13. I'm not really familiar with codes such as V and T. What is the difference between those and other codes?

I've also found a similar good fare through Kayak that goes through YUL (Montreal) instead of YYZ (Toronto). It's with Air France again and does stop in CDG (Paris).

Have any of you flown through YUL? When I'm coming back, if I go FCO to YUL to MSP, where will I have to go through customs?

Fares have dropped another $100 dollars per person on the YYZ version from above; it's getting harder and harder not to consider it.

  14. Ok...I might be missing something, but Kayak just sends me to the Delta website and I purchase the actual tickets through them. I am already a member of their FF program and that's why I'm wanting to stick with Delta if possible.

  15. For a $300 price difference Option #2 and not even think twice. Two flights are always better than 3. less chance of missing connection and lost luggage.

I understand the importance of ease, but if it's about a little suffering and having and extra $600 per couple for excursions and experiences, I wonder if it might be worth it. I am nervous, however, about the risks involved. If it matters, we are all teachers and have a good cushion on the return in terms of needed to get back.

I'm not experienced with purchasing international flights, so everyone's advice is so very much appreciated.

  16. Does Canada have international transit like most of the world or is it like the USA?

Seriously, going from the USA to Europe and back and having to do immigration TWICE in both directions sounds sub-optimal.

If you aren't on some "milage run" or aren't redeeming for an award, why mess with that?

This is what I'm wondering. Will I get sterile transit through to Barcelona so I only have to do customs once?

The cost difference in these flights is really large...each couple would save 600 dollars. That's why we are looking at it as a viable option.

  17. Ok...so I'm going to give you more information on the flights I have to choose from. The people in the group I'm traveling with want to book with Delta to get the rewards. The two options are a difference of $300 per person.
