  5. .... Hi CC message boards,

On Epic .... and have many questions. ....... Please forgive the use of the following format of # 1) .. # 2) and so on ...will help keep it clear ( at least for us ).

#1) Cabin 13276: the very last on Port-side. A family Balc. B2. Any info?!

it is under the Spa ... but looks like it is below the "relax/outer window area of that spa feature". Noise??

#2) Bringing wine with us. Must do it in carry on at embark? ... not in "checked" ...?

and same question for soft drinks like favorite Cokes/Lemon-lime etc..

#3) Always used the 'Shoe-caddy' for hanging on bathroom door. Made a

great organizer and easy locator for bathroom/other needs. Is this a usable

item .... with the Epic.. and the 'Special' bath/potty design...??

#4) Seems "dress-up" is NOT a Epic thing ... but do some folks wear a

jacket for dinner ... say at Cagney .. Le Bistro .. or just 'any time'??

#5) Have a very late after cruise flight ... How long are you allowed to "linger" onboard ... until "hey you two.>!! off, yes get off!

    ___________________________________________________________

Thank you for any help on these ...:D:D

On the cruise, you should receive paperwork in your cabin. go to the casino host desk and sign up for a CAS player card. take your card and the paperwork from the cabin to the casino cashier desk, wher they will place the $100 slot play credit on your player card and give you a passcode.

when ready to play, insert your player card in the slot and follow the instructions, including your passcode. You can transfer all or part of your $100 to the machine...I recommend transferring just a part of it (afterall, you may not like the machine or may be interrupted). Once you transfer credits on the machine, you must play those credits on that machine right then. Say you transfer $20 to a $1 slot machine...Playing $1 at a time, you must play at least 20 times...at that point you can cash out any winnings from those twenty plays (or you can keep playing). You can then transfer more credits that machine or move on to another or wait for another day.

I hope that helps..if not ask away. "

Thanks for that answer/explanation .... now one more for you ... if you don't mind .... doing b2b2b and if we apply for

  7. jg51 Cool Cruiser :.........." Hello, "Seamo."

We just want to clarify a couple of things for you and other members.

    1. What you were told over the phone was correct concerning pre-paying for an entire package. What was said about "rebates" and "prorated package pricing," however, may be misleading or (arguably) wrong.

    2. It is permitted to cancel a pre-paid package on Embarkation Day, with a complete refund being credited to your account. We know this from personal experience. While there may be no such thing as a "rebate," per se, there is such a thing as a full refund.

    3. It is permitted to purchase a package AFTER Embarkation Day -- in which case one does NOT have to pay the full amount (that would have had to be paid on, or prior to, Embarkation Day. Instead, one pays the prorated amount (number of nights left X per diem + service charge). We know this also from personal experience.

    4. In fact, the same person who canceled a pre-paid package on Embarkation Day was able to purchase a new (reduced-price) package two or three days later. The original key-card (which had a package code on it) had to be turned in for a new one (lacking a code) on Embarkation Day. After the partial-cruise package was later purchased, a sticker was placed on the new card."

    Hi again,

Hey no problem with what .... "happened" with you. (When was this?-- things do change)--- but the thing I said was:

" As to the above; just off the phone with a tele-rep and her supervisor ... they said: " package is for the entire cruise.

Your charges will be the # cruise days X the Price/day of Package + 15% =s total charge to account.

No rebates or prorated package pricing!

Other questions I've read: Taxed by US or State if pre-ordered or ordered whilst ship is tied to dock.

    The answer : False. No!

    . . . .SUPER THANK YOU TO CRUISE CRITIC ___ KISS...KISS

  10. Thanks to everyone for all the posts and work as we (you) try to get a final resolution to this question ... is this b2b2b legal and (for us) more importantly ... Will we be able to make this cruise happen (?). We were away and missed a timely response to all the most recent posts .... know that we find all ... helpful and most interesting reads. Below is our letter to Kevin Sheehan. We will let you know what comes of it .... ;) :) ... ______________________________________________________________

    ______________________________________________________________

    Kevin Sheehan, Chief Executive Officer

    Norwegian Cruise Line

    7665 Corporate Center Drive

    Miami, FL 33139

    Dear Mr. Sheehan:

    We need your help.

“ Norwegian Cruise Line is the innovator in cruise travel with a 44-year history of breaking the boundaries of traditional cruising, most notably with the introduction of Freestyle Cruising which has revolutionized the industry by allowing guests more freedom and flexibility.”

We desire to complete a booking for a cruise with this Norwegian Cruise Line!

We need your help enabling us to book the ‘middle leg #2' of a 3 legged yet a Single cruise. (b2b2b). Our present status is that we have a Category suite MA/MB/MX booked for Legs 1 and 3 .

Embark the NCL Jewel of the Seas in Seattle on Sept. 15th, 2012. Final Disembarkation in Miami.

    1: Seattle-Vancouver, 2: Vancouver-LA, 3: LA-Miami - “Distant foreign Port” of Cartagena, Columbia.

Our attorney opinion: “ an original embarkation in Seattle with a fully indicated intention and desire to make a final disembarkation in Miami , and having satisfied the Distant Foreign Port requirement, the tenets

of the PSVA/Jones Act have been adhered to, honored and satisfied. This Trip is a legal journey!”

We fully understand and appreciate the intent of the PSVA/Jones Act and see the possibility of an infringement should a passenger make a final disembark before Miami or the distant foreign port.

We further understand and completely appreciate that the Final Decision is that of the Cruise Line.

However, if that decision is based on the need to avoid a passenger willfully circumventing the Act, we swear that we shall act on and comply with any provision(s), request(s) or prohibition(s) NCL would need, want or feel required to enact. Ie: We will gladly post a cash bond to be forfeited for any breech regardless of cause; and agree to any and all Port disembark restrictions be it exclusion of temporary debark or sequestered status interim at a Port. We will enact and issue sworn guarantee of performance pledges.

Courteous NCL Reps have explained: “the computer system will not allow if the 1st and/or 2nd leg are shown together-the trip is not allowed; your boarding would be denied. You are allowed 1st+3 or 2nd+3. NO 1-2-3 ”

Kevin, we plead and beseech, invoke the feeling of the first paragraph. Help us be allowed to have

this NCL cruise from Seattle to Miami aboard the Jewel of The Seas. And after all I’m ½ Norwegian !!

Thank you for your time and for your consideration of our plea for help with this Grande NCL cruise!

    Yours truly,

Seamo ++ tee-hee .... well that is our intent , ya know ,.... to ... Seamo!

  11. FYI- I emailed the government and asked them:

I have a question about what is allowed or not allowed under the PVSA which is administered by CBP...can you ask the counsels office who is responsible for this to answer this specific question for a non-US flagged vessel

If I get on a cruise in Seattle and stay on for three segments(Seattle to Vancouver Vancouver to LA and LA to Miami-with a stop at a distant foreign port) to Miami-with a stop at a distant foreign port in South America-Is this permitted for a passenger(I know its ok for a crew member).

    lets see what they say....

Have gone over + over all the posts (here+before) and we are now advocating the opposite sides

(positions) -- as if we were 'in court' .

We are calling/writing/emailing not only NCL but other lines asking: CAN YOU HELP YOUR CUSTOMERS ??????

---Not that stark, but as suggested here by several helpful posters.

If anyone gets an update ...we will be here .. thanks!!!!

    :) Seamo :)

  12. This is really a GREAT response .... thanks,

we are sitting here reading / checking sources / comparing

    .... " interpretations " ...

Earlier it was said that the end point is what NCL will do ....

and then ... we read that in Oct/2011 this 3 legged cruise was

    accomplished on NCL ship .

    -----

So, try this interpretation and then cuss us off the board ...

We have booked leg 1 first .

We have booked leg 3 a month later --( a separate booking)

We will book leg 2 some time in future

OK --- 3 sepaerate cruises. 3 separate bookings.

We embark Seattle > debark Vancouver

We have courage drink, + return and embark Vancouver>debark LA

We have 2 courage drinks, + return and embark LA>debark Miami

Have 3 cruises contracted with three separate bookings.

Embark and disembark at end of a cruise.

    Repeat 2 more times.

Your honor, surely --- THIS is legal!?

P.S. Our understanding is the fine is now $ 300.00 pp.

WHY DOES ___ A NCL REP __NOT___JUMP IN HERE ???

    again , thank you all, ____ :) Seamo :)

  13. Hello to all,!

We tossed and turned (dreaming) ... no one will answer ...

    ... they will all answer saying ... " your damned ". ...

they will all answer saying : " Rotate, you are ... Good to Go "

EVERYONE, yes, no or multiple choice. :) WE THANK YOU !!!

The interpretation appears to be the key. When on the Phone with

The itinerary looks good to me, because the third leg includes a port call at Cartagena, Colombia, which qualifies as a Distant Foreign Port under the Passenger Vessel Services Act. (The PVSA, not the Jones Act is the law that applies to cruise ships.)

Can't remember the details, something about way back when protecting trading rights from country to country etc. So we cancelled both of the cruises since the attraction was following the coast. NCL wasn't too happy but we ended up finding a great deal on a repositioning cruise out of New York on the Dawn, to the Caribbean and ending in Miami. Sure would like that original itinery, though.

The third segment of the OP's cruise, from LA to Miami, makes the whole cruise itinerary legal under the PVSA (the Jones Act isn't for passenger cruise ships) because it calls at Cartagena, Colombia.

and now want to ADD part 2.) Vancouver to LA ...... thus making a

Superiors in booking and customs ) NO.

" In fact, if you have the part one and the part three booked , O.K ____ --- ____ BUT as soon as you try to add part two

Vancouver to LA ______ your are now in violation. NO!!!

She says we could change ships for Vancouver to LA but otherwise NO. -- she added ... " when (if) the booking comes up in NCL computers, ... THEY WILL BE SCRUBBED -- denied !!!"

O.K. Folks Helping here were ready to jump off the dock at the repetition of this ... subject. our apologies ... all around but HELP!

Have the "Official downloads" provided by Cruisecritic members on this REPEAT topic --- in previous attempts for a .." can live with it " conclusion.

Quoted these to the NCL Rep ... "does not matter .. if you get on in Seattle and continue to LA you are NOW in violation and it matters not what the NEXT leg is or does or where it goes ... NO".

    Thanks Cruise Critic and members,

    just wanting to ... :) Seamo :)

  18. Dave, the Retired Mustang and Krazy Kruizers,

We extend our 'Thank You' to both. The trans-Atlantic Ryandam is 21 days

Tampa-Rotterdam and whilst we are the "mature" sailors [who enjoy a little rowdy interlude here and there] ... we would prefer, most times, to live the 'gentile and calm' ... as we had when on the Zuiderdam (1/2 pan-am canal) and in a suite such Dave is now enjoying.

The string quartet made that trip a real treat.

Thank you again for the picture and the info.

waiting our chance to , Seamo

  19. Good evening Dave and to your Lovely Wife,

Dave, we thank you ... 10+ ... for your unselfish, time consuming HELP of others ( mainly us lurkers -- awaiting our turn on Ryndam ). BRAVO!!! Really ... is GREAT HELP!!

A transatlantic repositioning is in our star charts ... and ... one of the strongest pulls to "make that happen " was a brochure we received that said the Ryndam has a

string group playing several times per day and AT THE DINING ROOM during dinner!!!

And ... they will be aboard on the trans-repositioning................

Is this true??? Any Pics of those folks ? ( pretty -- please ) Your Post is a reflection upon you ... and what a fine image it is ...!!! Thank You.

    Seamo
