Unfortunately, we are coming in a day early and they dont do transportation the day before 😞
Is proving to be quite costly 😞 There are 6 of us, 4 sr citizens
It is now possible to book RCCI for the day before now. Stay at local hotels near airport and coutesy bus back to terminal C united bag claim between 930a and 10a.

Boarding time for Enchantment and Liberty in Galveston is usually 1100-1115.. Everyone has to debark off ship before loading begins.. Cabins are usually available 100p to 115p.

Giados is nice. Right across from beach, Eat at restaurant. Very good. RCCI has transportation from and to both airports. Around $30.00 per person. 40 minutes from HOBBY airport and 90 minutes from IAH.

I was at Costa Maya November 27, 2018. If you have any problem walking. DO NOT get off the ship. They do not have the tram running that takes you from half way to end of pier.
I ended up walking over half way in when my wife got me chair for the rest of way. When I got back from excursion at Maya Chan I waited 45 minutes for wheelchair back to ship.
The local port authorities had only 4 wheelchairs to accommodate 2 ships. RCCL and a big Princess ship. I counted them as I passed each chair on pier back to ship.

If you rent a car it has to be returned in Texas City and the car company charges $50 to shuttle you to pier.
If you stay near Bush airport you can take Royal shuttle on cruise day.($47 per person) Uber to Galveston is around $90 Cab is $161.

Not much noise from WJ. Sometimes you will hear a chair or table be moved. Not much traffic during night.

we are flying to Houston, renting a car, staying the Park Inn, a few miles away, then driving back to the airport and meeting RCI Shuttle at 10 and going to the port, about $50 per person, round trip so we have a ride after the cruise too.
Get your RCCI shuttle at terminal "C" . Most rental cars are dropped off building on JFK blvd on way into airport. Rental car shuttle will take you to terminal buildings and get off at "C". Plan on being at "C" about 10am. Bus will leave between 1015 and 1115

I have read that flying into and out of Hobby is easier, but flights are so much more expensive for us, so Bush is what we are working with to cruise out of Galveston on Carnival on April 1st.
We will be flying in the day before, but out on Sunday after we arrive back in Galveston. There are 6 people (4 adults, two tweens).
I have multiple questions-
What is the earliest suggested and safe time to return on Sunday?
It looks like I could do Galveston Limousine for about $50 round trip pp. Is that the best I'm going to find?
Can we have them do airport to Galveston hotel on the day before and then cruise port to airport on return day? We should then be able to take a hotel shuttle to the port the day we leave?
Are we better off using the Carnival shuttle?
How do we select a time and project when we will be getting off the ship? Or do they just have shuttles waiting as people get off?
Go with supershuttle. You can get a 9 psgr van for 179,00 which will hold all 6.

Were looking here for our stop 11/8. Interested to know others experiences.
I did see that the price, through the resort, was $35/adult and included use of the beach/pool/bathroom/facilities and transportation.
It was $75/adult included food and drinks.
Booked this thru RCCI for $99 and it was worth it. No hasle and good transportation back and forth. Beach good and drinks and food good.

I took this excursion in sept. The resort is very nice. The beach is good and we enjoyed it very much. Only thing we did not like was all the vendors on the beach...As long as you did not sit in first two rows of beach chairs, you were ok. I did not do that anyway because I like the shade. I had nice location under some palm trees. My wife and I eventually went to the excellent pool they have on the property. It is built like the lazy river at Disney and has many simi private areas to lounge in. Food was excellent for lunch and drinks were good. Overall a good value.:D

We visited for first time in September. Would definitely go back. We went with people who had been before and knew what to expect. Drinks were plentiful and very good. They really know how to make a mudslide. They have large floating chairs anchored out in the water and they do deliver drinks out there. Food was excellent and all you wanted. They have nice restroom facilities. Have water sports equipment. All in all well worth the money:D

Hi there can anyone give advice or recommend transfers ,we are flying to Houston then boarding liberty of the seas at Galveston but have got to make our own way there. RC aren't supplying this service. Help please 😬
If you were coming in day before cruise, RCCI was not taking booking for airport to pier but that has changed. Now you can book transportation for day of cruise. You can also book from pier to airport on the ship for your return. IAH or HOU

We are at the Hilton North Houston the night before the cruise as we both arrive from Australia at different times of the day.
What would be the cheapest way to get to and from our Hotel? We are considering catching the hotel shuttle back to George Bush Airport to catch a shuttle.
When arriving back at Galveston, we have a 2pm flight out. Galveston Limousines looks like a plan but I have read varying reviews of this company. The cruise ship shuttle is way too expensive to us when we take in consideration the exchange rates for US$ back to AU$.
Take the RCCI shuttle from Port to IAH. It is charged to ship account. $47. each.

Kent,
What do you figure is the easiest way for 5 adults and 2 children to get from IAH to Galveston without spending an arm and a leg?
Check with Super Shuttle. It should be $169 for 9 pass van. RCCI shuttle $47 each. Taxi $170

We rented 2 scooters through RCCL. My grandmother was told there would be attendants to help her, but there were no other details given. Thank you for your help :)
Scooters will be waiting in cabin. They will need wheelchairs to that point. Usually personel from ship will push them thru check in and to the cabin. Check to see what time cabin is avail.

Also remember that booze you buy to bring back may be duty free but you will pay texas fee to bring in.

Bit of background: We booked a pretrip and a cruise from Stockholm to Copenhagen and insured the whole trip with Nationwide which I purchased though Insuremytrip.com.
I really thought that I had purchased the correct insurance.
Our initial flight was 1.5 hours late leaving our home airport, therefor causing us to miss the connecting flight in Atlanta. Delta could not get us to Stockholm for two days. We had to book a hotel room and purchase meals for two days.
But, we missed the first two days of our land trip.
I filed a claim and the hotel and meals are going to be reimbursed. The two days of the pretrip are not. Nationwide said that because we were NOT six hours delayed for the initial flight that they are denying our claim.
I will really think seriously about what I will insure and how I will insure my trips in the future.

Depending what the delay was caused by. (weather, crew, maintenance, traffic) the airline might be responsible for you two days..They do not cover weather or traffic.

Also contact insurance co by phone or email to get ball rolling. They are usually very good and helpful.

I know what you mean, I love to travel and have been to many places, some people like to tap into that experience to find out more. Others may just ask something easy for an ice breaker and say 'Where was your last cruise to?' which can open up a whole list of subjects to talk about.
I usually get a table for at least 10. Agree on first night that you will sit next to a different couple each night. Really makes for a good dinner.

We are a party of six, and booked with Super Shuttle. It's $18/person each way.
Thats good deal.

We have found that the cruise line transfers work best to Bayport.
s
Just Princess or NCL. Both leave to pier and return on good schedule. Book in advance.
-
thanks for your answer.
I was afraid of that. Guess I will pay the $75 and get over it.
Port parking is very reasonable. It is 75.00 if you do in advance or 80.00 if you just show up. No shuttle involved and very easy and convenient to use.

Can anyone suggest a private service or other to transport 10 people from IAH Bush airport to Residence Inn near Johnson Space Center a few days before our cruise then on to ship & then return trip back to IAH?
Call a Limo company. You can get quotes online.
Maya Chan...Thank you for understanding!

I and my wife have been to Maya Chan 3 times over the past 4 yrs. We have always enjoyed it. My wife really likes the bar service in the water. She also likes the reserved space and not being overcrowded with no venders. We are booking in August and November if not cancelled and they are still open. Hopefully they are still open and we don"t have to go on ship excursion. Gary
