  1. Sailing on the Getaway 4/20 out of NYC and got my acceptance today. Bid $75 pp to go from a regular balcony to a spa balcony, which was the minimum bid. I've never had spa access before, not sure how much we will use it, but for $150 total I am willing to take a gamble.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out this far in advance, I was prepared for the notification 2 days before we sail.

I also put in a minimum bid of $100 pp for a spa mini suite that was not accepted.

  2. I’ve been on both. We are going on the getaway again next month for the 2nd time. The ships are nearly identical as a previous posters said, minus the NYC vs Miami theming. I liked both ships equally and will continue to sail on both if the itinerary suits us. I will say, I thought Rock of Ages was the best show I’ve seen on any cruise  ship. I saw the actual broadway production and it was equally as good.

Actually - Google Fi international data speed is only limited by whatever speed the local provider will serve up. There is no fee schedule for higher speeds posted.  You are correct in that there is no additional cost to use data while abroad if you have Google Fi, you just incur the same per-GB data cost as you do when in the US and whatever cost there is for calls if you make any ($0.20 / min typically).

"Fi's international data is consistently faster than T-Mobile's, and doesn't cost anything extra."

Additionally, you can use hotspot internationally, also with no additional cost, except for whatever data you use.

On our Alaska 2017 cruise my brother and sister in law had google fi and used it to watch game of thrones while on the ship. I recorded it on my DVR and watched it when we got home, I was not interested in watching it on a cell phone sized screen over the 60 inch tv at home. I also like to disconnect from technology on my cruises, but that’s my preference I realize others don’t always share.

  4. I hate that when you click on a particular ship name, it brings all kinds of results. Before if I clicked on the getaway, it only gave me posts about the getaway. The search feature also seems out of whack, trying to find people’s reviews has been a nightmare. I’m really hoping this is all just transition bumps and it will work smoothly again.

  5. Just got back today from the 4/9 sailing. Had a 12:30pm check in slot. Arrived at the port at 11:40am and was told they were not allowing anyone into the lot until 12pm. Drove 2 minutes down the road, stopped at a 711, filled up on gas and headed back at 12pm and went right into the luggage drop off line.

I read about the cash vs. credit lines prior to going too and was prepared with cash...and there was absolutely no difference in line at the time we were there. Can't speak for later in the day though. We ended up paying with credit, the husband loves those airline points, lol.

The security to check in was extremely fast and well done. Went from one line to another with short wait times. Got our boarding numbers and only sat 5 minutes before getting on the ship at 1:15pm.

Honestly, it was the easiest and fastest embarkation I have experienced. I would cruise out of Baltimore again in a heartbeat. Hope that helps and have a great vacation!

  6. I would also look in Acme and Shoprite.I know for a fact Acme has had them we bought some there awhile ago but last time I looked they didn't have them.Maybe you can get lucky because I think a separate company does their gift cards. Were in NJ

Sent from my SM-G900V using Forums mobile app

Shoprite, at least in northern nj, switched "gift card vendors" around December 2016 and no longer carry them. That was the store managers explaination.

  7. Do they sell any drinks in a pineapple??? It's my bucket list item 😉

They had a pina colada in a pineapple as a special on a sea day when I was on the Freedom a few years ago. My husband had to have one, it was pretty fun. I do not recall the exact price, but I want to say it may have been around $15.

  8. I was having the same problem, as were a few people on my roll call. I tried to wait it out, but after 3 weeks, nothing. I called the IT department and they said they just had to reset it, it took less than a minute and they were up. They told me there was nothing I could have done to fix it on my end, it could only be corrected on their end. I was only on hold about 5 minutes before I got a rep.

  9. You can book your excursions over the phone prior to the cruise. They will add it to your account, email you a confirmation page for the excursions you chose and the cost will be added to your on board account. Then your obc will apply towards the excursions (or anything else you charge to your on board account).

  10. their website is being wonky, and on my cruise two whole days were never available online for booking anything, restaurant or excursion.

i called and was told i should be able to book. i explained the days only showed the first 2 days of cruise. they said that was weird, did some typing and booked a reservation for me. it was obvious i knew how to book reservations because i booked my other ones myself.

I'm 89 days out and the same thing is happening for me, it's only showing the first two days of the cruise (entertainment only, no dining). I imagine it's a website issue, I'm sure they'll fix the issue in the next few days.

  11. I was looking through your photos and I noticed you had some kind of drink flight (mojitos perhaps?). I was wondering if you recall if it was included in your ubp or if you paid full price for it? I've seen mixed reports on this and was wondering if you happen to remember. Thanks for the great review!
