    Thank you

Is there an internal staircase or do we have to exit the Haven cabin area on deck 16 and re-enter the Haven on deck 17?

    K

We've only stayed on 17 so I'm not positive, but I'm 99% sure you'll have to re-enter through the entrance on deck 17.

  2. The title says it all. In January I put down a $1500 deposit for a Dec 12 cruise on the Escape. With everything going on I wasn't sure NCL would survive, let alone cruise in December so on April 6th I called and cancelled. I was obviously months away from final payment but was still told my refund would take up to 90 days to hit my account. The $1500 was back in my account this morning so it ended up taking 24 days. I'm just happy to get my money back and I hope everyone has the same result!

JimS4210, hopefully your refund  being processed, I was told 7-10 days, not 90 on March 30th.  and yes it was under 30 days that I got refunded.  think every situation is different in who gets in line for refunds first.  think deposits only like ours was easy for them to refund, but still not in time frame they told me.  BUT, am thankful to have $$ back.  We have cruised with NCL 20 plus cruises, enjoyed all, but those days I fear are long gone. so sad, that was our retirement enjoyment.

Got my $1500 refund onto my credit card today! One less thing to worry about in these crazy times...

I canceled  Sept. 14 cruise on March 30, Had a $1500.00 deposit.  Final payment not due until May 17th.  Got my deposit back to my credit card on April23.  Was told 7-10 days upon cancellation so was getting a little stressed.

I hope my case ends like yours... I cancelled my Dec 12th cruise on April 4th. Put down a deposit of $1500 and was told it'll take up to 90 days to get my deposit back. Looks like yours took a little over 3 weeks to get refunded. That's where I am right now.

I actually got a call from a cruise consultant which I thought was weird during a pandemic so I said no thank you and hung up

Same here. I went on the NCL site Monday night to get the phone number to cancel my Dec 202 cruise. I called and cancelled and the next morning I got a call from a number in Fort Lauderdale. I didn't recognize the number and ignored it. They did leave me a voicemail thanking me for visiting the NCL site and invited me to call back to speak to Edwin so he could let me in on the fabulous specials they are running at the moment.

I guess desperate times call for desperate measures...

I cancelled my February 2021 cruise and got the $1500 deposit refunded to my card in exactly 10 business days.  Start to finish was 3 calendar weeks.

I called last night and cancelled my Dec 2020 cruise. First I was asked if I would rather transfer my $1500 deposit to a cruise further in the future so my final payment date was at a later date. I said "no thanks" and was told my deposit would be credited back to my card but it could take up to 90 days. 90 days seems a bit excessive since it's probably just a matter of a few keystrokes but at this point I'll take that over a FCC or losing my deposit all together to a bankruptcy...

As far as anyone seems to know, you can still cancel as always for a refund as long as it's before final payment.  FCC or reduced refund if you cancel after the final payment deadline.

Good to know. I'll try calling NCL tomorrow for a full refund and report back on how it went.

  8. So does this mean people are getting cash refunds for cruises that are months away and haven't been cancelled by NCL? I have a cruise booked Dec 2020 on the Escape and put down the $1500 deposit back in the beginning of January. I haven't done anything since I figured they'd just offer me FCC and jack up the prices of future cruises. But if I can call and cancel the cruise and get the money put back on my credit card, that's definitely my preference. If it takes 7-10 days, 30 days, 60 or 90 days, as long as I get my deposit back, I'm good. Am I reading this right or are they just offering FCC if you cancel an upcoming cruise? Thanks!

  9. Sure, you're entitled to some OBC... Honestly, they should've offered you the cruise for free. Maybe throw in free groceries for a year and send someone out to clean your home twice a week.

Ever hear of the expression "No harm, no foul?"

Entitled much??? (I used three question marks because that, like your use of exclamation points,  adds legitimacy to the comment.)

  10. The entire point is that the perception of someone in that age bracket is a spring breaker. At this time of year, from what I read here, if most people saw an 18-20 year old with a beer in their hand they would assume they were a spring breaker. They would have no idea if anyone was just married unless it was announced by the individual themselves. They would all just blend in to one judgemental offensive mindset.

What's the point of all of this? Evidently you're offended that people see an 18-20 year old and assume the worst. That's too bad, but I'm pretty sure that most 18-20 year olds you see, whether on a cruise ship or mall or walking down the street, aren't married.

Ever been to Ft. Lauderdale during Spring Break? I'd guess that 99.99% of this 18-20 year old kids walking around with a beer in their hand aren't married...

Judgemental? Offensive? Lighten up, cupcake... Have a problem with all of this? Email all the insurance companies and ask why car insurance rates are so high until the individual reaches 25 or so.

  11. We're sailing on the Escape in two weeks and we're taking our seven year old granddaughter with us. She has a passport and we already printed out the NCL consent form for sailing with a minor without parents. We'll get to a notary sometime next week to have it signed by both parents and notarized. I'll have a copy of her insurance in case of an accident (Knock on wood, that won't be needed!)

My question is this: Am I missing something? Do I need to bring a copy of her birth certificate or will her passport be enough? I don't want to get to the port and encounter any problems. I'll call NCL next week for an answer but just curious what others experiences have been. Thanks!

  12. I'm on the 12/09 sailing and no email and nothing changed on website yet. Did your email specify those sailings?

I'm on the 12/09 sailing and I did receive the email, about an hour ago. It specifies the cruises of 11/04, 11/25 and 12/09.

    The ports are

    Sun Sea Day

    Mon Falmouth, Jamaica, 9-6

Tue George Town, Grand Cayman 8-4

    Wed Cozumel, Mexico 11-7

    Thurs Sea Day

Fri Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas 8-5

  13. IMHO...

Shorts are not a problem for breakfast and lunch.

Long pants and a collared shirt for dinner is preferable unless you want to stand out and see some "raised eyebrows."

The Haven restaurant is really a great restaurant and the service is fantastic and so friendly.

I have never seen shorts in the Haven for dinner except on children.

    Don

I'll be in The Haven on the Escape on Dec 9th. I guess I can expect to see some "raised eyebrows" because I'll be in shorts from the time I get on the ship to the time I get off the ship... :)

  14. Nickels and dimes matter to NCL.

Apparently they matter to certain cruisers as well.

I'll never understand the people who will spend thousands on a cruise but then turn around and complain about $13 a day. Just leave the DSC as is and tip extra as you feel it's appropriate. It ain't Rocket Science...

  15. Hi all,

This may be a stupid question, but on our upcoming cruise we're getting $300 in onboard credit from NCL. On the website it's broken down as $150 for me and $150 for my wife. Does it have to be used this way or is it just $300 any way we split it? For example, if I see something I like for $200, will I have $150 debited from my onboard account and get charged the $50 or will we simply have the $200 deducted from a joint account leaving a $100 balance? Just curious? Thanks!

  16. Alas. The Sun is my favorite. I cruised in 9076 the corner aft PH with large balcony twice. A total of 25 nights of heaven. Il Adagio. Ah. Memories.

Our first ever cruise was on the Sun and 9076 was our first cabin. In retrospect, that was probably a mistake since no stateroom since has been as good. The layout of that room was perfect and the balcony was enormous.

  17. The next time someone posts about pending CC holds from their pre-cruise stay making the available balance insufficient to pay their bill on board are you going to get snarky with them for NOT getting OBC ahead of time?

There are advantages and disadvantages to both buying OBC and not doing so. Enough said.

I would imagine they would get snarky because if a CC hold is maxing out your card maybe that person shouldn't be cruising. Apples and oranges...
