We have had several aft suites and really like them.  Thos that have an obstructed view are really not that bad and I quickly adjusted.  The extra large balcony is well worth it IMO.

Thank you!  I should have added that 1706 is also an Aft facing Junior Suite.  I was wondering if this cabin would have a better view than the one on Deck 7?

  2. Ok, so now that my cruise has come and gone 😢,  would I see my FCC in my account or would I have to call to have it applied to a future cruise?  I see the CruiseNext certificates listed, but not FCC.  It has only been about 10 days, but wondering if anyone else has received their FCC and where it showed up?

    Thanks!

I'm scheduled on the Escape in April and I will be taking one of my daughter's friends.  She is 16 and her father is deceased.  I've found a FAQ that includes NCL's parental consent form and states both parents must sign the form.  It doesn't have clear instructions about notarization or what to do in the case of a deceased parent.  Do they require a death certificate (this is kind of morbid, I'd hate to have to ask for this, but I will if I have to...)?  Does anyone have any direct experience with this?  I've already done the research and I've written NCL directly to ask, but don't have a response yet.  Looking for anyone's direct experience with this and not just speculation.  I'm trying to avoid a disaster where we THINK we have everything we need, but end up getting turned away while boarding (this would be unrecoverable, as at least one of us would then have to drive 8 hours to take our guest home...no way we could make the round trip to catch the cruise before departure).  Thanks in advance!

Not sure if I'm replying too late, but we just did this last month.  We brought my son's friend whose father sadly passed just 2 weeks prior to the cruise.  He still very much wanted to go with us.  We only needed the form provided by Norwegian and a copy of his Mom's ID (driver's license, front and back).  In the past, before they provided this form, I would type up a document with all of this info and have it notarized.  That is no longer necessary.

How soon did you get the email after you called to inquire about this?  I called on Friday and was told there was no way I would get 50% FCC and it would likely be 25% if they issued any at all.  She also told me it could take a few weeks to review.  Now today, the price dropped even more (over $2000 total).  I'm wondering if I should call back tomorrow and hope that someone else could help me with this.  My cruise is in 3 weeks and we happen to have another booked next year on the same date so we could use the FCC on that cruise.

So a positive update.  I ended up calling again last Sunday 1/30/22 and was told that I qualified for the 50% FCC and should get an email within 7 business days.  Just got the email tonight and not only did I get the 50% FCC, but the cruise price had dropped even more (checked earlier today) and they used today's pricing.  So in total I now have $1750 FCC.  Makes me feel a little better about the big price drop.

  5. Thanks everyone!  I think I will call again.  There are plenty of my cabin category available.  And from what is now showing online, it looks like several people cancelled because there is even more availability than a few weeks ago.  I'm not able to upgrade because there is nothing available to upgrade to.  We are in a 2BR in the Haven.  I'm pretty sure I'd be all set with promos and didn't use the BOGO airfare.

Same with us - 50% of the price difference in FCC. For us the price difference was $1,300.00 so $650.00.in FCC will be issued after our cruise. The email from NCL said the compensation was a “one time good will gesture” and will be split between both passengers.

I rented a Beach Front YC cabana for next month and wondered this too but either way, I'll be

using one and hope I get to the island.  It is the only port we are getting off LOL

Looking forward to your review and photos!  Hope you get to stop there.  We're not cruising until December but we are considering the Beach Front YC Cabana as well.

  8. We are thinking of booking the shorter Pearl Harbor cruise excursion at debarkation with the airport drop off. We were too late to book the tickets ahead of time on our own :(, so don't want to chance not getting there early enough. We are staying 1 more night so do not have a flight until the next day, but plan to pick up a rental car at the airport. Would that still work with airport drop off?

  9. The bid for upgrades with NCL is a fairly new thing (within the last year)

If cabins are still open they send out emails to some and ask if they would like to bid on an upgrade. Not everyone will receive the offer and you can not call and ask to be sent the offer.

Every category of cabin has upgrades offers if there are cabins available. So if you book an inside cabin, you will be offered the chance to bid on oceanview, balcony and mini-suites most likely but not suites.

On our last cruise, we had a mini-suite booked. When our offer came in,, we had the chance to bid on every suite category even if the category was sold out. There is a starting bid and a max bid amount for each. We bid just slightly over the minimum and did not win our bids. That said, There were only a few suites available to book. So when bidding, look to see how many in the category you wish to bid on are available. If there are a bunch you may be able to get away with a low bid, if there are only a few, you may want to try a higher bid.

You may not know if your bid is accepted until 2 days before the cruise sails and once your bid is accepted, you can not change cabins or decline the offer. So you need to be happy with what ever cabin they assign you

I've been searching the forums for an answer to my question. I received a bidding upgrade email today for my 2/17/18 sailing. We are booked in a suite and all suite categories are listed for bidding. However, I have noted for quite some time that all suites are sold out for this sailing. Just thought that was odd.

  10. My husband and I plan to book a cruise for winter 2019 with our then 12 year old son and a friend. At this point, we're pretty sure who we will bring, but that could change for various reasons over the next 18 months. We'd like to book it soon for best price/cabin choice etc, and we'll likely book 2 cabins. Can we book 4 people without giving all the info regarding the 4th person at time of booking? Or do we have to book with that info now and can change later if we have to? I assume there would be a fee to change a traveler?

    Thanks for any help!

  11. We have gone to Disney prior to a cruise several times - out of Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale and Miami. We stayed in Disney resorts and rented through Alamo who has a location within Disney that will pick you up at your resort. We picked up the rental the night before the cruise and dropped off at FLL or MIA airports then took a taxi to the port. Only time we had an issue was when we dropped off the rental at a location near the port, rather than the airport. It was extremely busy and we had to wait a long time for their shuttle. Still got to the port in plenty of time.

When we cruised out of Port Canaveral, we hired private transportation to the port. We were cruising with DCL but their buses have a set schedule and we wanted to get there earlier.

  12. We are booked on the Oasis, Oct 1st Sailing; the premium offer was $44, (that was 20% Disc), once I paid for the Gratuity it came in at $51.92 pp.

We've never purchased a Drink Pkg before, but I figured 2 Drinks pp while poolside/afternoon on the Ship. Possibly a Wine with Dinner, and another 2 Drinks during the Evening while at a Show and Lounges/Clubs. Plus, I figured we'd drink Bottled Water while lying about the Pool as well, just to stay hydrated.

And if the typical Drink (as Pictured by the Receipt) is $13, we should almost Break Even (given less consumption on Shore Days). But I'd rather not have to think about whether to have that 2nd Poolside "fruity" concoction if I had to Pay as I go.

This is exactly how I look at it! If it's prepaid (and at a discount compared to buying onboard), I don't think about cost if I feel like another. I'm also more likely to try new drinks and not have to worry if I don't like it. Plus you should consider # of port days and if you're going to the private island.
