  1. Hi there,

I was on three separate segments in April/May on Queen Elizabeth. The only disappointment was the only two available port tours - 'Tokyo On Your Own' and Kamakura were cancelled due to lack of English speaking guests.

There was a very good shuttle service from the ship into Yokohama from where the ship was berthed.

The night before we reached Tokyo (actually Yokohama) for segments two and three we received a new cruise card. We left the ship using the 'old' one and on returning used the new one. I had the same stateroom and nothing was moved! There were no formalities to go through. Hope this is of some help.

We are considering booking a B2B sailing with the 1st segment being a 9-day round trip Tokyo followed by a 2nd segment 7-day round trip Tokyo.

I realize that on the turn around day in Tokyo at the end of the 1st segment that we will have to go through some sort of immigration procedure---either with officials coming  onboard to handle the procedure or else having to actually disembark the ship to go through immigration and then immediately re-boarding for the 2nd segment.

Cunard US customer service is telling me, however, that the procedures can vary from sailing to sailing in Tokyo and we will not know how they are going to handle this until once we are onboard.  Moreover, they mentioned that even if we are in the same cabin for both segments, we might have to pack all our belongings and put our luggage outside our cabin at the conclusion of the 1st segment and then reclaim it after we disembark, and then re-board with all the other guests waiting to board for the 2nd segment.

That said --- and especially not knowing how this is all going to be handled until we board at the start of the sailing --- makes it almost impossible to arrange for tours ahead of time in Tokyo on the turn around day.

Has anyone had any experience as to how this is managed in Tokyo on turn around days in that port?

  3. Considering World Cruise on Elizabeth for Jan 2018. Has anyone any experience of the Balcony CB cabins with obstructed view ( Decks 4 and 5). How badly is the view obstructed? Can you see anything besides the lifeboat ? Does it make sitting on the balcony and unpleasant experience as you feel hedged in? Is Deck 4 better than 5 or vice versa? Any thoughts help advice would really be appreciated. Thank you

I was in QE 5136 (partially obstructed deck 5) for the World Cruise 2015. It is just fine! The balcony is a little smaller but perfectly adequate. The position re the whole ship was great for the rougher seas we encountered crossing the Atlantic. There is nothing in front of the balcony glass, just a small bit of winching equipment to the left. The only down side was not being able to see the sea directly below but there was very little obstruction otherwise. The lifeboat/tender is below the level of the balcony and does not obstruct the view. I did not visit any deck 4 staterooms but the lifeboats/tenders are at that level.

I hope this helps. (The World Cruise was fantastic.......)
