  1. We were on the Emerald in Feb and loved it. The food in the anytime dining was great. We ate at the Crown Grill which was ok, not great and very very slow service. There were only a very few diners and ample waitstaff but it took too long. Our cabin was a bit worn and that was disappointing. I didn't think the cabin steward was very good. He left sponges on the dressing table, cleaners and brushes on the floor a few days.

I agree with other posters about food off the ship. I don't care to eat while on excursions. I have eaten lunch at an all inclusive resort excursion and was fine, but scrutinized my choices.

Did you get over your illness by the next day. If so, it was probably the food.

  2. I'm not quite there yet but I don't believe any other line gives the Elite benefits Princess does at the comparatively early milestones of 15 cruise credits or 150 days sailed. And I also commend Princess for still using both measurements with promotion to the next level at whichever comes first, unlike many lines that now use only one.

Princess will remain my first choice as long as they continue the perk of the Platinum/Elite lounge before dinner each night and not switch to simply giving drink vouchers as Celebrity and Royal Caribbean are in the process of implementing (at least for their intermediate loyalty levels). From my recent digressions to each of those lines--which I plan to not repeat--it is clear that on RCI and X the perk is only about the booze itself where Princess offers you a great lounge (Skywalker's or similar) to chill out and have a snack with your drink in the hours before dinner.

Tell me about the lounge before dinner for Plat/ elite passengers.

  3. We have never had a problem at the port in Houston. The port staff is courteous and friendly, unlike the abrupt and unfriendly port of Galveston port employees. The cruise line staff in the terminal are efficient and friendly at both ports....just a huge difference in port employees.
