  1. Indeed, the cruises in europe in 2014 will be a success. I personally believe that if Oasis would be ever homeported in europe, southampton would be a great idea because it gives the opportunity for 14-night cruises. But it seems like Anthem is going to be based out of Southampton. I bet that there will be Oasis 4 but not 5. Freedom class was intoduced in 2006 and Oasis in 2009(Quantum- 2014), so I don't think that we should expect a new class earlier than 2019-2020. Probably i guess it is less time consuming and maybe it costs less to make another Oasis than designing and building a whole new class.

  2. The Mariner of the Seas used to sail to Alaska and a Celebrity Solstice class currently does. The anthem size wise is not much bigger than Voyager/Freedom class so I do not think size would be much of a problem.

I believe that the Mariner has never sailed to Alaska. But when the ship cruised out of LA some cruises were diverted from mexico to Seattle and San Francisco.

I have read in these threads that when the Voyager goes into drydock (2014) a retractable roof will be added in the solarium pool, so for this reason Voyager could head to Alaska.

  3. They already tender with the Freedom class, e.g. Liberty at Villefranche or Freedom at Grand Cayman, so with Quantum/Anthem being a similar size I'd say they'd be capable (whether they want to is another matter given the number of people) - if anything I'd hope they'd learnt a few things about the good designs for Oasis/Allure's gangways and employed them here.

I'd also say that as Q/A share similar DNA to the Solstice class that the gangways will be pretty similar.

Also, Quantum is scheduled to tender in CocoCay and Samana, so Anthem can definitely tender.

  4. I've clicked the links for Le Havre and Villefranche and I don't see Anthem listed - has it been switched to "Independence"? Maybe RCI saw the article about this thread on Cruise Critic and pressured them to change it before it is "officially" announced?

Interesting! I'm sure it said Anthem. Maybe others can confirm it as well. Royal Caribbean is watching...

  5. Not sure Allure will be doing a season in Europe. She is scheduled for her 5 year dry dock in the spring of 2015 so expect her to do a schedule similar to the one Oasis is doing in the Fall of 2014.

Any thoughts on where Anthem will head to during the winter season?

At first I thought the Caribbean but then I found this site with st.maarten cruise schedule.http://201.220.14.27/sxmonline/VesselScheduleCruise.aspx

If Anthem is based in FLL I believe that at least one cruise would visit St.Maarten in winter 2015-16. When you look at these dates only Royal Caribbean (RCI and Celebrity) has booked her ships' calls in this port and Anthem is not mentioned anywhere. So probably Anthem won't be based in the Caribbean in the winter. Just my guess. You never know and these schedules can change.;)

  6. Could well be. ;)

But what could Legend do in 2015??

Hopefully Anthem offers some interesting short cruises to try this ship... :)

The Legend could do the 4-5 nt cruises in the summer out of Fort Lauderdale. And Vision stays in Tampa year-round (like Carnival does). Or Legend could take over Serenade's itineraries
