Has the price gone up? Depends on price but if I could I'd cancel before final payment so for sure I got the solo pts but right now I'm pushing for pts. Some who booked for 2 and canc last minute didnt get awarded solo pts.

Thanks for reply but I do not want to contact them prior to boarding as have seen so many post saying they get charged a single price rather than double occupancy which is often, weirdly, higher.  Just want to know if a no show, will they get their drinks package refunded

  2. Hi

I have a booking on Wonder of the Seas for 2 adults in an Inside Cabin and now 1 of the adults cannot go.  It was suggested I wait till embarkation and report them as a no-show which will reduce the risk of being charged but my question relates to drinks packages.  Because we were in the same room, I had to buy us both drinks packages but will I still get 1 of these refunded if they are a no show?

    Thanks

    Kevin

  3. Insanity is expecting different results when doing the same thing - it has been shown ad nauseum on here that RCI will deny things well known by the CC reading public which in the end turn out to be true.

Wow, so I'm insane now am I? What a friendly place the Cc forum is. Well Biker19, hopefully u r in the next cabin to me as I run around naked except for my underpants on my head and a pencil up my nose singing 'More than a Feeling' every night...........

  4. But why is anyone shocked or surprised by this. The exact same thing happened when Mariner moved to Asia and ALL sectors of the voyage were impacted to some degree. There have been threads on here discussing this and the extreme likelihood it would be necessary with Quantum as well. I am only on the Singapore 3 nighter and booked that expecting some disruption.

It was known physical changes were going to be required and with no drydock time, what did everyone expect them to do.....

What a ridiculous thing to say! We are shocked and surprised for many reasons:-

I did read the rumour boards and therefore checked with RCI who, in writing, denied any changes.

I'm also shocked and surprised that a company could be so stupid as to have to rebuild large portions of a brand new ship just a few months after it was built.

Shocked and surprised because why on earth is North Star going to be changed at all for the Chinese market.

And actually shocked and surprised that a fellow poster could be so high and mighty and expect everyone to have in depth knowledge of a ship obviously needing modification and obviously knowing the ships schedule well enough to know there was no dry dock.

Do you work for Royal Caribbean?

  5. RCCL have known since at least November last year that there would changes made to Quantum before she gets to her new homeport.

Staff were talking about the changes on the Maiden Voyage from Southampton to Cape Liberty so why it has taken so long for Royal to actually inform guests who will actually be affected by the changes ?

Did they learn nothing from Oasis TA and Quantum Maiden Voyage ?

    .

And this, in my opinion, is the shocking thing! RCCL have been discussing these changes since November (approx 4 months before final payment). Many people sent emails to RCCL seeking clarification. I was one of those and I specifically stated that if venues were being closed then I would prefer to cancel when I could without losing money. The written response from RCCL was that Mamma Mia would be performed and Music Hall would be open. I therefore paid my balance and then 30 days before departure, oh dear, sorry, no Mamma Mia and no Music Hall!

I would suggest that lawyers would have a field day if I passed them the email as this is nothing other than deception! Somebody within RCCL knew these changes were happening months ago but witheld the information from paying customers. The OBC being offerred is peanuts and almost an insult after being conned over close to $5000 which includes flights and hotels.

I feel sick to the stomach the way I and others have been treated and in future, will be looking at pretty much every other company before I consider cruisjng with Royal Caribbean again!

  6. To all the single male cruisers out there:

    Hi,

my name is Melli (37) and I'm an absolute cruise lover, my favorite lines are NCL and RCCL and for the last four years I've cruised solo...so where are all the single men on the cruisecritic boards who like to chat with me a little bit about cruising and perhaps would like to find a woman who shares the love for the ocean and the ships!?

If it's you that I mean - just say hi!;)

    .

    Hi Melli

Im off on the Oasis next month followed by the Epic. Both as a solo but once Ive started telling my friends I strangely have a whole host of people who apparently 'want to keep me company'. How did you find eating as a solo in any of the speciality restaurants? Do they put you on tables with others, eat alone or do u find someone on the cruise to share with?

    K (48m, UK)

  7. Hi

Although a solo traveller, I'm very keen to try some of the speciality restaurants on the Oasis of the Seas. Any other solos tried the non main dining room restaurants and what's it like in them, being a solo?

  8. Hi Everyone

48 year old male solo cruiser just popped on to say hi. Would be great to hear from other soloists on either oasis of the seas 7th dec or Norwegian epic 14th dec this year. I'm from the uk and first time travelling solo.
