  1. While Greenland has been on my bucket list for a couple of years now, I am also interested in finding out if the 28-day roundtrip sailing from Los Angeles to Hawaii & Tahiti is included for October of 2017. I read on a recent thread that Princess may not be doing this sailing for 2017. Does anyone have any information on this or read on any threads of the possibility of discontinuing this route? If so, I will be terribly disappointed that I waited too long .

Oh no! We are looking at the 2017 28-day Hawaii/Tahiti as well! Just waiting for it to open up. I wonder why Princess would discontinue as it seems very popular?!?! Where was the thread you read this in? And I wonder who the source is? Probably can't hurt for me to call Princess and ask; however, it's possible I'll get a few different answers doing that! Darn it, hope it isn't discontinued!

  2. Re-read what I said...

Original "thought" about renting a car in FLL. NO WHERE was the word "plan," "planning," or "planned" ever used. MY original idea about FLL car rental:

"Fly into FLL Friday noon---> take taxi to AVIS @ Hyatt Regency Pier 66---> drive rental to Lago Mar and enjoy for two day---> return car Sunday AM to AVIS---> AVIS shuttle to HAL Eurodam."

Not a PLAN. An idea. ONE way to do it. In fact it wasn't a PLAN because I was ASKING for other IDEAS.

    Alternative idea by HUNKY:

"Rent Avis rental car at FLL, and return it to their Port Everglades location at 2301 SE 17th St, Fort Lauderdale. They can then shuttle you to your ship."

To which I said "That's EXACTLY what I'm going to do! THANKS!" AS in...THAT was a great idea! I like it! I'm going to do it THIS way instead of my PREVIOUS idea.

I feel as if this simple post asking a simple question has been ruined over arguing over nothing. Nothing more from me.

Just wanted to add if you're going to use Avis and want to get a bit of discount, do a quick Google search to find a coupon code to use when you book. We did this and saved a bit on a rental from FLL and drop off at Hyatt Pier 66.

Also, sorry your post was misunderstood and turned so negative. I clearly understood what you were initially asking in addition to your "that's exactly what i am GOING to do, THANK YOU" reply to HUNKY's suggestion in quote. :D Enjoy your cruise!

  3. I am anxiously awaiting to read any recent reviews of the Caribbean routes that hopefully some will post here soon on CC. Do you happen to have the Patters from your recent cruise??

I sure do have the patters, just got home, so have not gone through all that stuff yet!! can you write to me at the email off the list?

    Janet

Awesome, thank you! email sent ;)

  4. We have been on the Royal 3 times and just disembarked on Thursday. Believe it or not, we have had 3 different cruise directors and 3 totally different excellent experiences!!! The staff, the food, the service, have all been excellent!!! What a beautiful ship! We hated to get off of it!! Special thanks goes to Captain Oliver, this was the first cruise in the Caribbean after the transatlantic and I am sure it was not an easy cruise for him!! This ship will always have special meaning as we just got engaged on it on Sept 29th!!

    Congratulations on your engagement! :)

I am happy to read such positive comments on this thread about the Royal. I was beginning to get a bit nervous about taking my DH on his first ever cruise aboard her on 10/31 because I've read a lot of negative comments about the Royal lately. We are pretty easy going folks though, so I'm optimistic we will have a great time.

  5. It's obvious. Flies love "poop" and garbage. Naturally they would land on a glass of something like Budweiser before selecting an IPA. :)

My wife and I tried the Sea Witch IPA. Since we live in Chico, CA where Sierra Nevada Brewery is located and also sometimes visit the coast where Mendocino Brewing Company, Russian River Brewing Company, and Lost Coast Brewery are located we are somewhat snobbish about beer. We were both unimpressed with the Sea Witch. Granted, given the horrible selection Princess carries, it was probably the best beer onboard but it was a bit "meh" and hardly worth paying for.

Now if Princess would start carrying something like Pliny The Elder as their IPA or Old Rasputin as a nice Imperial Stout then I would have to say they were improving their line of beer. Sea Witch is an improvement but only a marginal improvement.

Another vote for Pliny The Elder!! Luckily that stuff is brewed practically in my backyard, but sure would be nice to have available on cruises as well.:D

  6. Great idea we received before our Royal British Isles cruise in July, if you are ordering wine by the glass on the AIBP stop by Vines for the best selection. We would have pre-dinner drinks here then take a glass of our favorite to the dining room. They also have the best wine glasses, so much better than the glasses used in every other venue. I made a deal with my favorite bartender to bring the empty glass back after dinner as wine taste so much better in a nice stem!

Really don't like those small thick wine stems they use in the other bars and restaurants. Also liked the tasting flights they offered in Vines. 3 wines served in a neat wine stand and included in the plan.

Thanks for the tip about Vines and the tasting flights as well included on the plan! Can't wait to try them out soon! :)

  7. You're welcome & hopefully you'll enjoy the UBD as much as we have during our four UBDs. :D

I merely share our experiences as objectively as possible & hope that some of them are helpful to others as they decide what are their best options for enjoying their cruise. ;)

We thought we would be okay during sailway from Santorini in early December 2012 however they told us it was their first cold and windy day of the season resulting in having to move inside our cabin.

Thanks, yes, I'm sure we will enjoy either way (inside or out). We are pretty relaxed people and don't get too tassled over most things. Nothing is perfect. Hey, we think just getting to cruise is the best and the rest is a bonus! :D We have the "Deluxe" balcony booked so perhaps that gives a bit more room in the cabin if needed to move the dinner inside. The upcoming Royal cruise is the Caribbean in end of October. I was thinking of choosing around sail away time (6PM) at either St Thomas or St Kitts if I can get that. :)
