  1. We always take plastic clothes pins to secure our towels to the chair on windy days. A couple of years ago i started carrying quarter-page cardboard and a Sharpie. When I leave my chair for any length of time I write the time I leave and the time I expect to be back and clip it to the chair. Also, "If I'm late and you really need the chair, just put my stuff on the deck at the head of the chair and make yourself comfortable." I'm usually on time, but the one time I was excessively late the guy in the chair had folded my stuff much more neatly than I would have. I thanked him and went to another chair.

  2. Totally worth it for us (me and DH). Did not find the service suffered at all. We did tip the drink guy at my time dining $5 the first night and he always kept our wine flowing (we sat in the same section every night). He gave us Irish coffees without charging additional' date=' although in Portifino's they did charge full price for Irish Coffee (next time I will order coffee with a shot on the side). They also would not serve say a $14 glass of wine and just charge the difference. If we wanted that wine we would have had to pay full price.

We hit every bar and never had a problem with service ever. Service in the casino was excellent as well.

Grabbing a bottle of water whenever you walked by a bar for your cabin is an excellent idea. We did this as well. They do give you an insulated cup for the soda machine when you buy the package at embarkation.

We have cruised before and know how fast the drinks add up. We will always do this package if cruising together!

This doesn't seem consistent throughout the fleet. Lots of posts here saying they were just charged the difference. I'm too lazy to collate what ship they were on, but would be nice to know which ships do it which way.

  3.

And, yes, Texas is the only state in the union to be an independent republic...

While I understand your use of the word "republic", don't forget that Hawaii was an independent country with a monarchy and California was an independent republic (for about a month). Some also would argue that Vermont was a republic from 1777 to 1791 when it became the 14th state.
