So for the second time in the last couple of months Costa has cancelled a Transatlantic cruise we were booked on.
First it was the Luminosa sailing from Gaudaloupe to Venice and now they are cancelling the Magica sailing from Gudalaoupe to Savona. Both in March of 2021
We were booked on the Luminosa and scrambled to get the cabin category we wanted on the Magica. This morning after trying to check the booking online and then placing a call to Costa USA we were told that there are "massive" changes to the itinerary (it appears to have gone from a transatlantic to a 7 day Caribbean cruise) and they are not sure what will be available as they, Costa USA, had just found out about it and had no guidance from the home office in Italy.
It's getting to be a little frustrating, to say the least.
Does anyone have any other info on this situation

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate.

Does anyone know if the Costa Magica has a separate dining room for suite guests?

Hoping all is well and looking forward to the rest of your review

Morning samiam, a couple of more questions if you would.
1. When you checked in for your cruise in Port Everglades was there a special area for suit check in or was it any line that was open?
2. Did you have much contact with or was there a big need for the English speaking on board rep?
3. I notice on the suite restaurant menus there is a section that obviously indicates an up charge for selected items. Were those items an up-charge for suite guests too?
4 Do you have a photo of the room service menu, that is lunch and dinner. Is that how you ordered, with a menu or just by contacting the butler?
Thanks again for any info you can help with. I am looking forward to the rest of your review.

No I agree, and the trip itself looks amazing.

The excursion that you took in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, was that a Costa trip or did you book with a local company? If you don't mind my asking what was the cost for that trip?

Enjoying your review. A quick question re the "theme nights". Did you find that most people dressed up or not. I'm not much of a dress up/fancy dress kind of guy.

Thanks for starting your review. So much good info.

Samiam, thanks for such a detailed reply I really appreciate it. I do have other questions but I will wait until you've published your review as I sure most of them will be answered there. Again thanks for all the info.
Tenpin we booked through an online agency but even doing a mock booking through the Costa website yielded the same results. The next port on the itinerary for us would be San Juan PR, somewhat harder for us to get to.

Samiam thanks so much for the post. I appreciate the info and the fact that you would not hesitate to cruise with Costa again.
What itinerary did you sail? How was the weather for the very early TA.
Can you tell me how you handled tipping on board. Did you tip your room steward and Butler over and above the daily gratuities charge by Costa.
We were hoping to book a Panorama Suite but even this far out (March 2021) there were none available so we booked a Samsara Suite.
Can you tell me about the dining room for the suite guests, did you use it how was your experience with it?
Sorry, so many questions but with a message board that is not jam packed with info ( the exception being "tenpin") it's like finding gold.
Thanks again
Clive

Thanks tenpin. I'm sure as we go though the process of waiting for the cruise I will be back to ask some more, and I hope not annoying, questions.
We did end up booking a transatlantic but not until March of 2021.
Again thanks for your knowledge and your willingness to share.

How about cabin stewards nad/or butlers?

Having only cruised on NCL and other mainstream type of cruise lines I am aware of their tipping policies and practices. How does that differ to what happens on Costa particularly and in respect to European tipping practices in general?

I read in one of your posts that the suites fill up early because of promos and Costa club promos etc. So in your experience do many suites, perhaps some that are sold out at the moment, tend to become available as it gets nearer to sailing time. If so, is it easy to switch from your reserved suite?
-
Thanks for the reply tenpin. I was hoping you would. I've been surfing around this Costa boards just looking for info and opinions. Your replies and comments to questions asked and opinions sought have been both measured and informative.
The itinerary is what is driving us to seriously consider this cruise. The transatlantic will be part of a "bucket-list" trip that will, if we take this particular cruise will end up in England to visit family and friends. Plus the fact that it would end up in Venice would put a check mark on another item on the list'
When you cruise in a suite is there a particular type of suite that you prefer, if so for what reasons?
Thanks so much for any wisdom you can impart.
What part of the UK are you from? I'm originally from Marsworth a little village by the Chiltern Hills about 40 miles NW of London.

Hi, I am considering booking a transatlantic on Costa and would like to hear from people who have traveled on Costa and what the main differences are from a mainstream US cruise line, NCL or Carnival for example.
Just trying to get honest opinions that I can consider when making our decision,

Did it piss you off or something, or is it just that your from New York. Don't have anything useful to say? Then maybe your better off not saying it.

It appears that the Dawn will finish up her Greek Isles schedule in Venice in November 2020. Do you think the return Transatlantic will start from that port or somewhere else. That itinerary has not been published yet?
Any ideas?

Has anyone seen, the 2020 itineraries for the Star, specifically the spring time Transatlantic?

The App seems to have gone away on the App store. I did have it in my iPhone then about a month or so ago it displayed a banner saying it needed to be updated but it wasn't available in my area or country.
So who knows.
