Cruising in may to Alaska. We have a stop at Victoria at 8:30pm. Considering the Empress Experience. Wanted to know if anyone has done that excursion and their feedback. Thanks!

Did you end up doing this?  We are considering it as well as we are only there from 8-12 midnight which I think is strange.  But it is a later night port.  I would love to know if this is worth it.

No, you do not have to reserve dining on the app before you sail. I would say just wing it, especially since some nights you may eat in the dining room ,some nights you may eat in the buffet ,some nights you may eat at a casual place, etc. no reason to make reservations that you don’t even know what time you want to eat. Just show up when you’re ready for dinner and of course you may have to wait just like a land based restaurant .

Thank you this helps very much!!

    Appreciate it.

While you do not *have* to make reservations...I suggest that you do simply to reduce the amount of time that you wait in line ay the door.  They will always accept "no reservation" diners, but you wil *usually* have to wait a few minutes.

And...as far as actually *making* those reservations should you decide to...I strongly suggest that you do so using the "web version" located on Princess.com logged in to your cruise personalizer.  Select your cruise, and on the very first tab that comes up (Summary, I believe...NOT Dining) scroll down just a bit until you see:

    Thanks so much.

  4. Hi!. First time sailing on Princess. I was wondering if anyone could help me. Do I need to reserve dining on the app before sailing. We are sailing April 6 and we are doing main dining, not specialty dining and I usually do not have to book dining before the cruise. I wondered if I had to do that as we may pick a night or two to do one of the casual dining venues. Thanks so much .

I have 2 USB powered fans I just bought for our cruise. They are kind of tiny. I am packing them, maybe I will just pack one, in our carry on bags. I will leave them in the small box they came in....not likely they will see what they are in a tiny square box during xray but who knows. I just think it's pretty petty to ban a USB tiny fan...for what purpose? . I have hot flashes and my husband snores. I need this little fan.

    I do too!!

    I can’t sleep without it!

I have been lucky enough to do four cruises this year. On four different cruise lines! I am currently on my first ever NCL cruise and really enjoying it.

We were on Carnival two weeks ago, so I am pretty conscious of the differences.

Honestly, this cruise feels throwback. We picked up our cabin keys in the terminal. We shared a table in the dining room for embarkation lunch. We get menus in the dining room, and the dessert menu is separate, given after the meal. The daily newsletter is delivered to the cabin the evening before, and it has ads for the spa and shopping (that I throw away). I am really enjoying it!

My next two bookings are on Celebrity and Carnival, but based on this cruise so far, I will be looking carefully at Norwegian in the future.

Going on our first NCL .. do you know if you can you request a private table for 2 for dinner?  We do with Carnival and RCCL. Just wondering! Looking forward to the escape !

  7. Just came off of five nights from New Orleans on the Carnival  Valor. We have been on many Carnival cruises, but this was our first cruise with the Valor. Embarkation was great. No trouble. We were on the ship at 11 AM.

muster is great you just go to your station and sign in and listen to a 30 second  tutorial. Food was decent. Lido restaurant was good. Main dining room food has declined a bit but still good. Some of the stations had long lines especially pizza at night when nothing else is open and could not get a deli sandwich because the line was super long all the time. They must be good sandwiches. We stayed in room 6343 which was a balcony room. It was very nice and we enjoyed having the balcony.

One thing I don’t understand is how the shows have not changed in the past 15 years. The welcome show is exactly the same and the three shows that we did see are the same shows that we have seen on every other cruise. That is disappointing.

Cruise Director Louie was great. Very personable, funny, and went around meeting everybody.

All in all a great cruise.

MSCVoyagersClub@msccruisesusa.com  ... save this email. This is the group at MSC that assist with VC concerns.

We have found that our VC name and booking names have to be exact to get credit for VC points.

For example, my first name has to be: "Norman Jay" and my last name has to be: "Cole Jr." on my bookings since that is what VC has.

The team at the above email address have been a huge help to us, and sorted out our points quickly.

I have been emailing this email for a week now with zero response.  Did they actually email you back?  When I call they don't help and when I email I get no response.  Very upsetting that I cannot get my issue resolved at all.  Thanks for your input.
