  1. Hi Chrystal - I enjoyed your review with Isaac's first cruise. I met you through cruise critic 3yrs years ago as you were so helpful answering my cruise questions and also we're NJ neighbors (I live in Ewing) . We are also Facebook friends. One day we can meet in person. I remember you posted on Facebook that you and Wesley are expecting. Now he's one years old. Wow. He is so adorable. May God bless you and your family.

  2. Just heard on the news tonight about a chartered Pgh Steelers cruise. March 10-15, 2014 on the Brilliance out of Tampa.

Of course it's not on the RC website - you have to book through a private website. It's priced high, but these specialty cruises usually are higher due to the personalities and entertainment onboard.

We are big Steeler fans and would find sailing with some of those listed, including singers, would be so much fun!

Seriously, OMG...I am such a Steelers fan for 10 years now...DH is still in denial...he's an Eagle fan.

  3. Leaving for pre-cruise in 19 days....I booked this cruise 10 months ago. The months, weeks & days didn't seemed slow at all....the excitement is too intense. After this cruise, my excitement continues for the next one too...Allure of the Seas (August).:D:D:D

P.S., also being on cruise critic everyday speeds up the planned vacation.:) LOVE IT!!!

  4. That's exactly what I would do (Barrachina). Old San Juan is a beautiful city to walk around and explore. Check out El Morro Fort too, and have lunch in the city. You could also contact Victor Balbin (San Juan Happy Tours, I mentioned him earlier in my review). He may be able to pick you up from the pier and take you around for a tour as well. Happy sailing! :)

So this Barrachina is near El Morro Fort? Also, does Barrachina charge a fee to hold our luggages?

  5. OK, I have a suggestion for you. Three yrs ago when we did the Serenade for the first time, we also had time to kill before our flight home. After reading many reviews on this board, we found Jose's Segway Tours. We had a 3pm flight home, so we did the morning segway tour. At that time they were offering the luggage valet in San Juan (they no longer do this) so we sent the luggage to the airport, but still had three carry on bags. We went to the segway office. They held all our carry ons in their office for no fee and we did a 2-3 hr tour of the city. It was a great way to see everything and Jose and his wife (can't remember her name) were great!! I would consider this as a possiblity. You could take your time getting off the ship, do the noon tour and then go to the airport about 3:00. It would run you a little more than the city tour, but well worth it. http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/old-san-juan-segway-tour/

Another option is to go to Barachina's (a restaurant in Old San Juan) they will hold luggage at no fee (although they like if you eat there) and then you can make up your own tour but just catching a cab and having the driver take you around the city.

Either way, I would find something to do. I know there are many many people who go to the airport and sit and wait for hours before their flight. But that is not something I will do. I would rather walk up and down the streets for hours on my own than just sit in an airport and wait!!

Okay, thanks for the suggestions and that website.:)

  6. Faith413 - I'm having my T/A reserve my husband and I the post cruise RCCL Old and New San Juan Tour with airport dropoff. I've been researching for months and can't find any other way to pass by time from leaving the ship to our 4:30 p.m. flight. The cost is $33 pp for three hours. It starts at 8 a.m. as soon as we get off the ship. That means the tour will end 11 a.m.? I don't know what to do until 4:30 p.m. My husband doesn't want to do the Rainforest....doesn't want to get wet before we get on plane. Did I make the right choice? Any suggestions? I just want our luggages to be held somewhere while we enjoy the last day.

  7. Sorry, but you're TA is incorrect. If you bid through Priceline, you will get a great deal at a fraction of the web rate. If you are looking to stay in San Juan close to the cruise ship there are many 4 * properties and resorts that can be had for just over $100 night. GOOD LUCK! :)

Oh okay. I think TA meant no reimbursement for any changes. The unexpected I meant is what if I have to cancel my trip for any reason? My cruise and airline is covered but if I book hotel through priceline, what happens, who do I talk to or I'm just out of $100 for hotel?

  8. Hey ya'll. DH and I are going on our first cruise with another couple next month. Eastern Caribbean. SO excited!

I have a few questions.. I've read through this ENTIRE thread because I'm kind of thirsty for cruise knowledge!! :D

    1. I've heard that there is a movie theater on board. Is this true? And if so, do they play new movies, or recently released movies?

    2. We will be on the ship over Halloween... Is there any kind of Halloween Party or is the holiday kind of overlooked...

    3. We are in room 6300 on the 6th deck. It looks like it's RIGHT in the middle, but I can't tell if we're going to be on the port side or not... Any ideas? I have heard 'hump' been thrown around alot and don't know if it has anything to do with where we are! :o)

The other couple has a room up on the 9th deck, same side of the ship, so we're planning on taking walkytalkies...

I'm terribly excited!! Any info would be GREAT!

    TIA!!

    Megan

Welcome.....You will never be the same again after your first cruise. You may get withdrawl symptoms when you get home. You may get the shakes, but you'll be fine. Booking another cruise will take care of that. ENJOY YOUR FIRST CRUISE ON LIBERTY....I WILL BE ON HER IN JANUARY!
