If you like lamb, I have to say that the Lamb Shanks on tonight's menu were our favorite meal on the Brilliance last month. So hoping that they'll serve them again on our Legend voyage which begins tomorrow. On a train to San Diego now!

Too bad about the Americanization (that's a word) of the butter and non dairy creamer. The European counterparts are usually better. I'm sure it will affect our menus on the return trip coming up. It's still a cruise through the Panama Canal, though! Thanks for the wonderful preview of what's coming up for us starting Wednesday.

We had MTD on the Brilliance last month. Same wait staff every night at our table for 4. Since we board the Legend just after you I'm getting concerned. The menu looks very similar to what was offered on Brilliance, including escargot every night. Just hope the waiting doesn't deter us :(

We missed much of the captain's reception due to really slow service in MDR. :(

 

You mentioned having reservations for MTD but are you at a table for 2 or a larger one? I really don't like long drawn out meals caused by slow service. Sorry you had this experience. ~Karen

One thing I wish I'd known before our cruise was that there is no clock radio to connect and play our iPod through. We will bring our own on the next cruise. Had to turn on tv and press channel down button twice to get to ship info onscreen to see time and location. Also would have been nice to know about 70's theme night ahead of time. I don't know why they don't put that info on their website - do any of the cruise lines?

I agree that the photos are great and I also that Steve was a very personable cruise director. Loved the sea days and all 4 ports were great! The week just went by too quickly. Fall colors were disappointing and we heard various reasons from "it hasn't been cold enough yet" to "they peaked 2 weeks ago and the wind blew them all off already." Portland had pockets of colorful trees that we saw on the city and lighthouse trolley tour. Eat lobster on shore! Our favorite was in Bar Harbor at Rte 66 diner on Cottage St on the right. The placemat gave detailed directions for tearing apart and eating the whole lobster. So sweet and succulent that no butter was needed. $21.95 included a cup of clam chowder, fries, cole slaw, approx 1 1/2 lb lobster and blueberry pie with ice cream. The lobster tails in MDR that night were flavorless and dry by comparison. Also had whole lobster in Portland yesterday that was just as sweet, a little smaller and no chowder or pie but came with corn on the cob and baked potato for $18.95. I want to go back! Hope everyone enjoys the next cruise as much as we enjoyed ours.

It's later - didn't realize I'd repeated myself in previous post :). We enjoyed the immigration museum at Pier 21 in Hallifax. Volunteer researcher there found records of my husband's Italian grandfather's immigration and printed all records for only $30. Here in St John there is much within walking distance of the ship. We watched the reversing tides from the WindJammer during breakfast! Library in town has free wifi and the New Brunswick Museum ($6) was good. Walked uphill a few blocks from there for an excellent $10 bento box lunch special at a sushi restaurant (Ta Ke is the name). Beautiful day! So far we've had one formal night and the only smart casual. Tonight is casual and tomorrow night formal and we are told lobster will be served then in MDR. My favorite meal so far in MDR has been braised lamb shank. All seafood is excellent especially the corvina. Can't wait to get back on board and rest up for next two port days!

We are in St John - day 5, 2nd port. Brilliance is amazing! Looking forward to arial show in Centrum tonight. We love the MDR food and staff. Park Cafe is our favorite for lunch as they assemble your salad with better ingredients (shrimp and feta cheese) than we found in WJ. Also the roast beef sandwiches and paninis are great. More later. In the Library at Market Square (walking distance + free wifi) then going to a museum here ($6 entrance fee). More later!

We had just learned that we were to be new grandparents for the 6th time when I registered. 6timegrandma was too long, I thought. I'm tired of creating usernames and passwords! Trying to remember them all is even worse!

L.A. has Metro! Google it but if I recall correctly, it's the red line from Hollywood to Union Station then maybe the blue line to Long Beach. Taxi from Long Beach would cost much less.
