  1. In the extra space between the bed and the balcony door there is a sofa.

The bathroom has a bathtub shower combo.

Hmm, sounds nice... maybe not $600 nice, but nice.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the B2 premium balcony guarantee? I am wondering if there are any in that group that would be less nice than my A333 (BC).

    Thanks!

  2. If you are like us, once you stay in a mini-suite, you won't want a balcony room ever again.

My first and only previous cruise, the prices plummeted in the last days before the sailing, and my TA got us a free upgrade from a balcony to a family suite (Norwegian Dawn). It was amazing and spoiled me for sure. But, I also like to take a lot of vacations and a full suite would probably usually cost double what I paid that time, so I have to be realistic ... not that there are any of those left for this sailing anyway.

I've never seen a mini-suite in person, but from the floor plan it looks like it is similar to the balcony room but deeper from the front door to the balcony door. Maybe I have been selling it short. I will do some searching to learn more about the difference between balcony and mini-suite.

    Thanks!

  3. We are booked on the Coral Princess Alaska southbound cruise next week in A333, which is a category BC balcony room, starboard side.

Can anyone tell me whether it would be worthwhile trying to upgrade to a B2 premium balcony guarantee (I'm guessing a $100 total increase)? Are those rooms much better? Is there significant downside risk?

I was also looking at the balcony mini-suites, category MB, which would probably be a $600 total increase. It looks like D519, D601, and D604 are available, and the last of those is a port side, which I was thinking might be advantageous for this cruise.

    Thanks!

  4. Is Indian food offered anywhere on NCL ships? Buffet? Select options in MDR?

While I haven't confirmed personally (first cruise sails tomorrow), I've heard from numerous sources that the Norwegian buffets have an Indian section.

Also, when I called to tell Norwegian I preferred a vegetarian diet, they asked if I was an "Indian vegetarian." So the fact that they are calling it that rather than, say, a Hindu diet (lacto vegetarian) implies to me that they commonly offer Indian vegetarian options.

  5. Have your behind ready to get off the ship before it docks? Can't help you with departure........we had no issues. Got there at 10am and boarded at 11:15

If you have some way of knowing that the departure will be held up, you can certainly wait somewhere on the ship. I don't know if they will open the bars or not during that time, but you typically don't have to get off until 10 am and if the line is really long by that time, I don't think that they will bodily force you to stand in that line.

Okay, sounds like I have a couple of good options for disembarking. Thanks guys!

  6. So what is a good strategy? This will be the first cruise for both my girlfriend and for me, leaving this Sunday (12/8). If everyone arrives at 1:00, how will that be any better for lines than if we arrive at 12:00? Are they just counting on a certain number of people ignoring the message and arriving at 12:00 anyway?

When getting off the ship on the return to Tampa, is it possible to just hang out somewhere and wait until the line settles down, rather than standing for 2-3 hours?
