Dawn out of NYC this Saturday seemed undersold as recently as Monday. Most other Dawn Bahamas sailings sold out entirely a week or two before sailing. This one still had a bunch of rooms in nearly all categories, including a ton of suites that would likely get filled with upgrades (I don't think too many people book suites last minute).

I go into manic website refresh mode hoping to catch a drop the week before sailing...and in the blink of an eye the damn cruise sells out.

In the Summer?  that's tough.   You have a better chance in the off season.

do you know if there was a place on board the Joy to sing karaoke?  I am going to be with a group of 14 family/friends, and a couple have asked about karaoke.  I've never sung karaoke, but I said I would research it.

Also, are the tables in the Observation Lounge coffee table height, or dining table height?  I like to find a place to relax and color, for a while, when my feet give out.  Usually I have to go to the buffet area (between meals), but I hate to take up the space, there from people looking to get a meal.

@momtodogs Look up on Youtube, there are several very nice videos showing a tour of the Joy in 2019.  You will get a glimpse of the observation lounge as well as the other venues.  It looks like a great ship!

Does anyone have any info on if they will provide excursions for the new ports?

We are sailing July 1, 2019 and we still don't have any excursions  to pick , only Key West.  After the Cuba debacle, the cruise lines had so much to fix.   I'll be checking everyday though.

Going on a Carnival Cruise in October with my sister and her family. They have never been on a cruise. I just want to show them some basics. No excursions. Would like to take them to Atlantis Hotel just to see it. (no water park) Then would like to go to the Public beach next to Atlantis and ten head back and do some shopping. Its been awhile since I have been there. Years. Need help please, Is there still a public beach next to Atlantis? If so what's the name of the beach? Do we take a taxi from cruise port to beach/Atlantis? We are a party of 6, anyone know how much a person? Is there still a straw market near the port. If not where to shop. Thank you.

Keep reading in this forum topic, you will find many of the answers to your questions there.  Just in case.  The straw market, you can walk easily from cruise port.  The free beach by Atlantis has no facilities is called Cabbage beach.  I do not know if you cab just wonder the facilities at Atlantis. Never heard of that.

No restrooms, Atlantis is on cabbage beach, a part of cabbage beach is in front of Atlantis.

So are the pushy vendors allowed in the Atlantis part of cabbage beach?  I am assuming the Atlantis part of cabbage beach has chairs and access to restrooms, whereas the "free" cabbage beach does not?  My main concern really is comfort, and NO restrooms is a deal breaker for me.  Thanks.

Is it really 2 for 1?  I thought you  only got 50% of what you paid for the Cuba cruise.  So if it was only a $700 fare you're only getting $350 back.....that won't cover a new cruise.

It's still money that won't be coming out of my pocket.  We cruise every year,  so it's a good offer!

Because they are NCL. A joke of a company that is inferior to the even Carnival nowadays. They care little about their customers (just look at the shortened TA and various other fails on their part) and the proof is obvious for all to see. I used to book NCL because they had dirt cheap last minute cruises on Sun out of PC. But after their piss poor handling of this and other incidents in the past, you couldn’t pay me to book this joke of a company.

Huh?  I don't see where their offering guests a full refund or 50% off the cruise and a 50% a future cruise is poor handing and uncaring.

Sept 30 Cuba cruise on The Sun was the middle cruise of a Back to Back to Back so for me it isn't so simple as to cancel that leg of the trip . But Im not willing to pay inflated prices for a 5 day cruise to ports that Ive been to lots of times. But would take that cruise if the price was right so that I could keep my other two cruises in place.

Only time will tell what NCL will offer so I can rebook that leg.

The information I received from NCL said that I would get full refund and the itinerary for Sept 30 has been changed so it just shows 3 days at sea in place of Cuba. But the cruise isn't offered yet.

You won't be at sea for 3 days, our 7/1 cruise reads at sea for 2 days at ncl .com  but we got our email already we going to Bahamas.

It's hard for me to imagine that anyone thinks 50% off of one cruise & 50% off on another cruise equals a total refund. We don't have a cruise booked, so this doesn't affect me at all. Regardless, it's easy to see that isn't the same as a cancellation, with a 100% refund.

Well for me is better than going to Nassau and getting nothing as a refund.  It's in the contract, ports are NOT guaranteed.  end of story.

From Norwegian:  NO REFUNDS IF YOU CANCEL ON JUNE - SEPTEMBER CRUISES

NOTE:  Norwegian is the ONLY cruise line to stick it to passengers who want to cancel.

Sailings through and including September 2, 2019

Those guests currently sailing on Norwegian Sun who departed on June 3 as well as all guests booked on Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun cruises to Cuba through and including the September 2, 2019 departure will receive a 50% refund of the cruise fare paid as well as a 50% future cruise credit valid for sailings through December 31, 2021. Refunds for June 2019 and July 2019 sailings will be processed by June 30, 2019 while refunds for August 2019 sailings will be processed by July 31, 2019.

Refunds will be applied to the original form of payment. This process will be automatic and requires no action from you.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this unforeseen change. Standard cancellation policies apply for those guests who choose not to sail. Visa fees arranged through Norwegian Cruise Line will be refunded and government taxes and fees will be adjusted accordingly. Any shore excursions purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line for Cuba will be automatically refunded and posted to your onboard account for June 3 departure or refunded to original form of payment for other sailings. Future Cruise Credits will be attached to your Latitudes profile.

When was your sailing for?  date?

wow this is amazing!  NCL is refunding $1029 of our cruise plus the $150 visa charge and we still get to go on whatever the new itinerary happens to be.  Then $1029 off our next cruise i'll take that deal any day.  Will probably buy a cruise next certificate once onboard as well if it can stack with the 50% off future cruise?  Considering it also has free drinks, free flights and 2 free specialty dining perks can't really be beat for a balcony.  I cant see very many people canceling or they wont get the 50% refund. Will be even better though if the ship isnt 100% full.  Barely made the cut sailing Sept 2nd on the Sun.

I am with you! not complaining!  enjoy!  and now I will cruise again in 2021 to celebrate my retirement.

I am not booked on this cruise (so no invested interest) - given these circumstance, I think NCL is wrong in not letting individuals get a full refund if they choose not to go. RCL and CCL stepped up and did the right thing.

Well, I am already flying to Florida for this cruise to where ever.  Me asking for a refund wont help,  is the airline refunding me? NO!  I have to take the flight.  I want a cruise not a refund, and  receiving the 50% off this one, is a welcomed!🙃

I wouldn’t assume that. As of now, these cruises aren’t cancelled, only some ports are changing. That’s well within the cruise lines’ rights under most cruise contracts. Some lines may end up choosing to offer refunds or allow people to change reservations, but there’s no guarantee at this point.

Yes, of course I meant if its within the clear GUIDELINES the cruise lines set in their contract.  They will just NOT take your money and run.  lol!

Passengers booked on NCL have received this message in their account online, as per a posting on the NCL board:

We regret to inform you that today the United States government announced new and immediate travel restrictions to Cuba. As a result, we have ceased all calls to the country and have begun to update itineraries for upcoming sailings. Rest assured that we will communicate to our guests and travel partners as soon as additional information becomes available. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we assess this recent unexpected development and the resulting impact to cruise travel to Cuba.

I wonder if the Norwegian Sun that was set to dock in Havana tomorrow is included in this decision. I can’t express how happy and lucky I feel to have sailed to Havana last week aboard the Norwegian Sun.

I was sailing to Cuba on July 1...no word on my account at NCL yet regarding new Itinerary.  Lucky you!  My nightmare became a reality. :(
