  1. Was this really a problem worthy of new policies? I don't recall ever seeing an animal on a ship, legitimate service animal or otherwise. I will be D+ as of the end of my next voyage. Certainly some people need their service animals to be allowed to come with them, and I suppose some tiny fraction of the population will try to misrepresent their ordinary pet as a service animal in order to bring them along, but I've never seen it, much less seen a rash of it worthy of new policies to put a stop to it.
    In a word...yes.

  2. Wow! Thanks for the pictures! That is really a shame as it was a great place to go for the day as a beach trip. I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see if things improve.

  3. Cool! Please post afterwards with how it was!

My husband and I had a Wonderful day at Beach Limerz! We did the full package and hubby wants to go back next time!

We easily found our driver where Gail said he would be, and then took the quick ride over where Gail greeted us upon arrival. I am able to walk some but do use a wheel chair or scooter so have limited mobility. I left my wheelchair on the patio and was able to fairly easily make the short walk to the chairs and umbrellas. We also had a small table between our chairs to put drinks on.e75ba79186a8d8633ebf02a498e0b52e.jpg

It was a wonderful beach with no crowd. We enjoyed our time in the water (Mike tried to stop me from going in but I insisted) but a wave got me as I was trying to get out! 2 of the guests saw my fall and quickly came to help Mike get me up and back to my lounger...I know, I should have listened to my hubby in the first place! LOL. I enjoyed spending the rest of the time watching Mike try out the kayak and a standing board thingy. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch buffet and had chicken, ribs, fish and some side dishes. The meal was topped off with a nice bread pudding.

We are looking forward to returning next Dec with a few other family members!!! Thank you Gail and your wonderful staff!!!

  4. Have sent two emails to Gail at the info email and still no answer. Is there another contact I’m missing. It’s been about four or so days since first one.

Have emailed Gail at this address and she has replied that evening each time. info@beachlimerz.com

  5. We will be there in 5 days. Will report back.

I can say that communicating with Gail was very easy. She responds to e-mails quickly.

Gail arranged for a taxi for us as well.

I am really looking forward to spending the morning and afternoon there.

Cool! Please post afterwards with how it was!

  6. The Ramada Plaza has gated security that is manned 7x24. Folks come and go by vehicle 7x24. The hotel is on Frontage Road which dead ends at the Northern State prison. The area is not easily accessible on foot. For a place to leave a car at Newark Airport I think it's highly desirable because of its remoteness and inaccessibility.

The Trinityreservations.com package has an arrangement to use the Ramada shuttle buses to transport folks to the pier. When you check into the hotel, you also go to the Concierge desk to register for a shuttle time. The shuttle bus I was on held about 15 people and it was very nice. This hotel is one of the closest airport hotels to the pier which is about 9.5 miles away. These shuttle buses are only available through the trinity package. They cannot be booked separately through the hotel.

Porters were there to accept luggage. Total travel time was just under 25 minutes, which I thought was fantastic.

Thank you! I had booked this along with relatives and was afraid that I had led them astray...I am much more confident and relaxed about it now!

  7. Hi!

There are SO many factors at play here. The first one being time....your cruise is still a year away and your BIL's abilities may be different then.

For someone whose ONLY problem is mobility, then yes, I would recommend a scooter . But someone that has other issues also that can effect their fine motor skills, especially needs to take extra caution.

I agree with xxoocruiser. The best option is to consult his dr or pt.

    Happy cruising!

  8. On my last 3 cruises there were items in the Compass saying to sign up for self-assist at Guest Relations. I was not able to last time because my husband was not with me, but we did self-assist on the Grandeur and Explorer (Dec 13, Feb 14) and had to notify them at the desk. In both cases, we were given specific sheets with instructions, a small paper saying how many of us there were departing and our cabin number was taken. Consequently, we did not receive luggage tags in our cabin.

As my friend and I were waiting in June, a couple with number 15 tags on their luggage tried to get in the line for self assist but were told that they had to wait until the number 15 was called since they had not signed up for self assist and they were over number of the amount of people allowed.

I don't know how it is handled on other ships.

  9. Yes, you need to get a "ticket" to self-depart. They are only supposed to allow a certain number of people do this. In Feb, I was able to get early departure but when my kids (adults) tried, they were told that they were out of spots for self assist and had to wait until the number they got in their staterooms.

In June, the self assist departure seemed to take a long time. The line seemed endless as I watched them.

There are often no lines at the Guest Services desk.

  10. Thank you!!!

I went to see an aft balcony on the Explorer and it had an area that was totally shaded so I wasn't sure what to expect for the Grandeur. All of the pictures and information posted has shown me that it is definitely a different layout, even though I love how big the balconies are.

I am going to go with 7150.

  11. Hi all,

I have searched and searched, but can't find this info.

I am looking on the Grandeur between 8586 and 7650. 7650 is corner aft and 8586 is aft but in the middle.

My husband is not a sit in the sun person, but I like to. I am wondering which balcony is larger: 8586 or 7650. Do either of them have an overhang or are they all sun?

I have never had a balcony cabin let alone an aft one. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated (especially pictures).

    Thank you!!!!!

  12. We did the park in stay at Best Western on O'Donnell Street in Dec. It is 2 minutes off of 95, was $2 cheaper than parking at the pier and we had a nice room, good breakfast and wonderful free shuttle (5 minutes to the ship) to and from the door at the dock. Didn't have to wait at all for the shuttles.

We will definitely be staying there for our next 2 cruises out of Baltimore!

  13. I never met a stateroom attendant that did not smile and say thank you for a gift and tell you how much it is appreciated. Since the water is fine on the ship, why would they need a case of water?

Why do we need to have bottled water with us? We don't. :-) But I prefer bottled water, and I know that of all the little things that I give my stateroom attendants (in addition to a very generous tip) the bottles of Poland Spring that I have left over have been a big hit. An extra case will only cost me $4: if it makes my stateroom attendants feel more appreciated then it is worth it.

Due to my physical limitations, I often need to ask extra things of them, and I want them to know how much I truly appreciate all that they do.

  14. I will be traveling to Bermuda this week and don't want to pay for an excursion but would like to get off the ship for a bit. If I get a day pass, would it be easy to travel with scooters?

My friend with Parkinson's has a smaller scooter with less battery. How far is it from ship to ferry and then is there anything right off of the ferry?

    Thank you for any information!!!
